Intended use
The product can be used for operating a 8.89 cm (3.5") SATA hard disk drive via USB or via a
network connection (10/100 Mbits). An external mains transformer (for 100 - 240 V~, 50/60 Hz)
provides the power supply. The product should be used only in a dry indoor environment.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety
and approval reasons (CE). Any usage other than described above is not permitted and can
damage the product and lead to associated risks such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc.
Please read the operating instructions thoroughly and keep them for further reference.

Safety instructions

We do not assume liability for resulting damages to property or personal injury
if the product has been abused in any way or damaged by improper use or
failure to observe these operating instructions. The warranty/ guarantee will
then expire!
The icon with exclamation mark indicates important information in the
operating instructions. Carefully read the whole operating instructions before
operating the device, otherwise there is risk of danger.
Persons / Product
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children!
When used in conjunction with other devices, observe the operating instructions and safety
notices of connected devices.
The product must not be subjected to heavy mechanical stress.
The product must not be exposed it to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, intense vibration,
or dampness.
The design of the mains transformer complies with protection class II. Only connect the power
transformer to a 100 - 240 V~, 50/60 Hz mains socket.
Only use the external power transformer supplied to power the unit.
Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even
from a low height.
Do not move the product when it is in operation. Wait after turning off for at least 30 seconds.
Always treat hard disks with care. Impacts during operation (also for a few seconds after
switching off) may cause the write/read head to touch the magnetic disk, which destroys the
hard disk!
When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor pinched.
Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a warm one.
The condensation that forms might destroy your unit. In addition, there is a risk of a fatal
electric shock.
Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the power supply and
putting it in to use. This may take several hours.
Ensure that the insulation for the entire product is neither damaged nor destroyed.
Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, do NOT connect the unit to the mains voltage! This presents a
danger to life!
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if
-
the device is visibly damaged,
-
the device does not operate any longer and
-
the device has been stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
-
it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
Miscellaneous
Servicing, adjustment or repair works must only be carried out by a specialist/ specialist
workshop.

Operating instructions
4.
Installation of the 8.89 cm (3.5")SATA hard disk
1.
Remove the front cover.
2.
Unscrew the two screws on the rear cover of the enclosure. Remove the rear cover from the
hard disk interface adapter.
3.
Insert the 8.89 cm (3.5")SATA hard disk into the interface adapter carefully. Then fasten it to
the side plate with the four screws provided.
4.
Clip the front cover on the slide plates.
5.
Slide the hard disk together with the interface adapter into the enclosure.
6.
Replace the back cover and fasten it with the two screws.
7.
Secure the hard disk in place with four screws at the bottom of the enclosure. Stick the rubber
strip on the screws at the bottom of the enclosure.
8.
Put on the bumpers according to your needs.
5.
Initial operation of the device
1.
First, set the slide switch at the back of the housing to operating mode "USB".
2.
Connect the USB cable to a free USB socket on your computer. Connect the Mini USB plug
to the NAS housing.
3.
Plug the output cable of the power supply unit into the "DC IN" socket at the back of the
housing.
4.
Connect the power cord to the power supply unit, then connect the power plug to a mains outlet.
5.
The housing should now automatically turn itself on. If this is not the case, press the On/
Off button located at the back. The device will then be recognised by your computer as an
external USB device.
6.
Operation as an external USB hard disk
To operate the device purely as an external USB hard disk without NAS operation, it only has to
be partitioned and formatted. You can use any file system for this. When you use Windows, we
recommend using NTFS, as there is no maximum file size limit with this system, compared to e.g.
FAT32 (max. 4 GB).
