Batteries for fl ip display
• Open the cover of the fl ip display battery compartment (C2) on the back of the device.
• Insert two new 1.5V cell batteries (C) in the fl ip display battery compartment (C2), paying
attention to the polarity markings. The correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
• Close the cover of the fl ip display battery compartment (C2) again.
• If the fl ip display stops working, the batteries are fl at and need to be replaced as described
above.
Battery for the clock mechanism
• Insert one new 1.5V Mignon (AA) battery in the clock mechanism battery compartment (C1)
with the correct polarity. The correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
• If the clock display stops, the battery is fl at and must be replaced as described above.
To ensure a long battery life, only use alkaline types.
Rechargeable batteries may be used but due to the lower voltage output (recharge-
able battery = 1.2V, standard battery = 1.5V) and the lower capacity, the service life
is shorter.
Setup/wall mounting
The clock can be stood on a surface or hung on the wall.
• To stand the clock, choose a level, non-slip surface.
• For wall mounting, there are hanging eyelets (C3) provided on the back of the device.
• Fasten the clock in place with screws that protrude a few millimetres from the wall. The
distance between the screws can be measured on the back of the device.
• Hang the clock from the screw heads, using the hanging eyelets (C3).
Setting the Time
• To set correct time on the clock display (A1) rotate the adjustment knob for the clock mecha-
nism (B5) on the back of the device.
Setting the Calendar
To avoid damage to the mechanism, the DAY (B1) and MONTH (B3) rotary
knobs should only be rotated counter clockwise.
Switch off the automatic calendar change function before adjusting, other-
wise it won't be possible to make the settings correctly.
• Switch off the automatic calendar change function with the POWER switch (B4) (move the
switch to the OFF position).
• Rotate the DAY knob (B1) until the correct day of the week is displayed (A3). Ensure that the
time of the day (AM = morning, PM = afternoon) is set properly.
• Move the DATE ADJUST switch (B2) to the ADJUST position. This enables the date in the
date display (A5) to be changed continuously. Wait until correct date is displayed and then
move the DATE ADJUST switch (B2) immediately back to the OFF position. If the date dis-
play (A5) has already hopped over the correct date, repeat the procedure as described.
• Rotate the MONTH knob (B3), until the correct month is displayed (A4).
• Switch on the automatic calendar change function again with the POWER switch (B4) (move
the switch to the ON position) after the adjustments are completed.
In a leap year, the additional day (February 29) cannot be displayed. Therefore,
the calendar display should be corrected manually. Follow the procedure de-
scribed above.
• The year display (A2) must be set manually.
• To adjust the year display (A2), open the storage compartment (C4). The digits for year
display are kept in this compartment. Take the digits required from the compartment and
place them in the year display's (A2) openings. There no separate digits 6 and 9. Just turn
the corresponding digit to show the correct number.
• Keep those not required in the storage compartment (C4), otherwise they may be lost.
Maintenance and Care
Apart from replacing the battery, the device requires no maintenance. Only clean the exterior of
the device with a soft, dry cloth or a small brush.
Never use caustic cleaning agents or chemical solutions, as they could damage the surface
of the case.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste materials and must not be disposed of in the
household waste!
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
Remove any inserted battery and dispose of it separately from the product.
b) Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
The end user is legally obliged (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and
rechargeable batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries in the household waste!
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols
to indicate that disposal in the household waste is forbidden. The symbols for the
relevant heavy metals are: Cd=Cadmium, Hg=Mercury, Pb=Lead (marking can be
seen on the battery/rechargeable battery, e.g., underneath the rubbish bin symbol
shown on the left).
You can return used (rechargeable) batteries free of charge at the offi cial collection
points in your municipality, our stores, or where ever (rechargeable) batteries are
sold!
You thereby fulfi l your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
