Solar-powered mole repeller
Item no. 621705
Intended use
The intended use of this device includes driving and keeping away moles, voles and mice by
emitting sonic sound. The areas of application are garden and lawn areas.
The product is designed for private application, not for commercial purposes. Any use other
than that described above is not permitted.
This product complies with the national and European legal requirements.
Safety instructions
Please read the instructions through completely, they contain important infor-
mation. The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to
observe these safety instructions!
We will not assume any responsibility for any consequential damage. We do
not accept any liability for personal injury or damage to property caused by
incorrect handling or failure to observe the safety instructions. In such cases,
the warranty/guarantee will be null and void!
• For safety and approval (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifications to the
product are not permitted.
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or heavy me-
chanical stress. These damage the product.
• Do not leave the packaging material lying around carelessly since this may become a dange-
rous toy for children. Danger of suffocation!
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. Children cannot esti-
mate the risks which can arise when handling electrical appliances.
• Handle the product with care. It will be damaged through impact, blows, or by being dropped
even from a low height. A damaged device must no longer be used and must be disposed of.
• The product is sufficiently protected against dampness and rain. However, it may not be
exposed to direct and powerful hose water. The product must not be placed directly in water,
e.g. in a garden pond or in a puddle.
• If questions arise which are not clarified within the course of these operating instructions,
please contact our technical support or another specialist. Please consult a specialist in case
of doubts about correct operation or product safety.

Functional description

The Solar-powered mole repeller produces a sonic sound of appr. 400 Hz at 30 second inter-
vals. Since most underground rodents have poor eyesight, yet a good sense of hearing, these
low frequency vibrations have an irritating effect on those animals. This will drive those animals
out of the coverage area of the device (up to 700 m
first place. The device works on moles, mice and voles.
The power supply of the Solar-powered mole repeller consists of a combination of a solar cell
and rechargeable batteries. With sufficient sunlight, the solar cell on top of the device supplies
it with power and charges the build-in NiMH batteries. Under low sunlight the batteries will
supply the device with power.
Setup
For an optimal effect on the unwanted rodents the device should be placed as closely as pos-
sible to the spot where most of the animals appear.
Under optimum conditions the device covers an area of up to 700 m
perties can have a significant influence on the range. Dry, sandy soil and big rocks, roots etc.
have a negative effect on the coverage area. In this case, covering a large area might require
a higher number of devices.
The Solar-powered mole repeller should be placed in a way that the solar cell is
exposed to sunlight for as long as possible so the batteries can be charged close to
the maximum.
Make sure that the solar cell is not covered or put in the shade. Do not position the Solar-
powered mole repeller under bushes, trees, porches etc., since this cuts down the sun expo-
sure. In this case the built-in batteries might not be charged sufficiently and might fail to supply
the Solar-powered mole repeller with power during times of little sunlight or at night (reduced
operating time).

Do not apply force when you set up the device, e.g. by hammer blows. This will
damage the product. Try to position the Solar-powered mole repeller in a way that
nobody will trip over it. Be careful that no leads are damaged. Therefore, before in-
stalling do make sure that there are no utility conduits (water, electricity, etc.) running
through the chosen spot.
The product is sufficiently protected against dampness and rain. However, it may
not be exposed to direct and powerful hose water. The product must not be placed
directly in water, e.g. in a garden pond. Therefore also make sure that there is no
risk of puddles forming in the installation location.
If you have placed the device in a location where you work with a lawn mower, lawn
trimmer etc., make sure that you do not damage the Solar-powered mole repeller
with these tools.
Chose an appropriate spot for the device, e.g. the lawn or a garden
bed. Push the Solar-powered mole repeller, with the tip of the
ground spike first, into the ground. The ground spike should be at
least 15 cm into the ground, but not further than up to the lower rim
of the upper casing. In hard soil it might be necessary to form a
suitable hole first, e.g. by driving a wooden stake into the ground.
Initial operation
It is recommended to put the device into operation for the first time in the morning hours, so that
there is sufficient time with sun exposure in order to have the solar cell charge the batteries as
much as possible. On one side of the device there is the on/off switch. When the switch is in
the "OFF" position, the unit continues to work only when adequate light falls on the solar cells;
the rechargeable battery is not, however, charged. In the „ON" position the device is supplied
with power from the solar cell/batteries combination, i.e. the solar cell provides the device
with energy, if there is sufficient sunlight, and charges the built-in batteries at the same time.
Under low sunlight the batteries take over the power supply of the device. Set the switch to the
desired position. As soon as the device is operating, it will emit a 400 Hz sound appr. every
30 seconds into the soil.
It may take a couple of days before this shows an effect on the unwanted rodents
and drives them away.
Remove the device from the ground and switch it off when you do not need it for a
longer period of time.
Using the mole repeller
The nightly period of operation of the product varies according to the season, depending on
the hours of sunlight and the strength of the sun. In long periods of weather without sufficient
sun shine (especially in the winter), the batteries may not charge up sufficiently to allow the
device to operate for a longer period of time. The batteries store less energy during the day
than the device consumes at night. This results, necessarily, in a reduction in the length of time
the device will operate. Should the buzzing noise no longer occur correctly, then switch the
device on when there is sunlight and off for the night-time. This will charge the batteries again.
Keep the solar cell cover clean. Take particular care that the solar cell does not
become dirty and that it is kept free e.g. of snow and ice in winter. Otherwise, the
built-in solar cell does not catch enough sunlight to charge the batteries.
Cold temperatures have a negative influence on the service life of the batteries
(reduced operating time). With respect to a long, trouble-free period of operation,
we recommend storing the device in a dry, warm room during the winter or when it
is not used for a longer period. Turn the device off and clean it.
Maintenance and cleaning
Except for occasional cleaning the product requires no maintenance. It cannot be opened. By
opening it you damage the product. Servicing or repair may only be carried out by a specialist/
specialist workshop. The outside of the device should be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp
cloth or a dry brush. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions which could
damage the housing or impair operation.
