Ceiling-Mounted Motion Detector
("Slave")
Intended use
The product is exclusively intended for the expansion of the related ceiling-mounted
motion detector with the Sygonix order number (33988W).
The motion detector is intended for installation in a room ceiling.
The motion detector's integrated PIR sensor responds to temperature changes within
the detection range, e.g. when a person enters the detection range.
It then activates the output of the controller, whereby e.g. a light or other load is
switched on for an adjustable amount of time.
A total of 6 motion detectors can be connected to the controller of the "master" mo-
tion detector (the "master" motion detector and up to 5 further "slave" motion detec-
tors).
On the "slave" motion detector, only sensitivity setting is possible; the time and bright-
ness settings are made solely using the "master" motion detector.
Any other use than that described above may damage the product. Moreover, this
may give rise to hazards such as short-circuiting, fi re, electric shock, etc. No part of the
product may be modifi ed or converted!
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these op-
erating instructions! Read the operating instructions carefully and keep them safe for
later reference.
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All

Explanation of the Symbols
The lightning symbol indicates a health hazard, e.g. electric shock.
This symbol indicates specifi c risks associated with handling, function and
use.
The "arrow" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.

Function of the motion detector
The PIR sensor integrated in the motion detector responds to temperature changes
within the detection range, e.g. if a person whose temperature is different from the
background enters the detection range.
The detection range of the PIR sensor can be limited with the provided plastic cap,
which is easily placed on the motion detector (if necessary, individual segments of the
plastic cap can also be removed).
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• The motion detector's mounting height
• Temperature difference between the moving object and the background (ambient)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the motion detector
• Direction and speed of the movement
• Ambient temperature
After switching on the mains voltage for the controller, it takes about 30 seconds until
the PIR sensor in the motion detector has adjusted to the background temperature
and is able to recognise changes in temperature within the detection range, and a
switching procedure is triggered.
