Intended use
This product is intended for displaying the time and the date.
The time is set automatically using an integrated DCF receiver.
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves the risk
of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
No part of the product may be modified or converted.
The safety instructions must be observed at all times.

Safety Instructions
First, read the complete operating manual carefully, as it contains important informa-
tion about the proper operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these
safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by in-
correct handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty will be
void in such cases!
• For safety reasons, any unauthorised conversion and/or modification to the product
is not permitted.
• Do not expose the product to high temperatures, humidity, strong vibrations or heavy
mechanical loads.
• Please consult a specialist if you have any doubts regarding the use or safety of the
product.
• Do not allow children to play with the device. Use the product only out of the reach
of children; the product contains parts and batteries that can be swallowed.
• Do not leave packaging materials unattended. It may become a dangerous plaything
for children.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.

manual.
Notes on Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk that they
could be swallowed by children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor im-
mediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause acid burns when
coming into contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves.
• Normal/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a
fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries, due to risk of explosion! Only
charge rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable bat-
tery charger.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the battery/rechargeable battery
(pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-).

Installation
The radio wall clock is hung on the wall.
• There is a suspension eye on the back of the device for wall mounting.
• Secure the clock in place with a screw that protrudes a few millimetres from the wall. Then hang
the clock on the screw head with the suspension eye.
To ensure correct DCF reception, the radio wall clock should not be placed next to
electronic devices, cables, metal parts, etc.
Inserting/Replacing Batteries/Rechargeable Batteries
• Open the battery compartment on the back of the housing and insert three batteries of type AA/
Mignon, observing the correct polarity.
• The correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
• After inserting the batteries, the LC display starts flashing and you can set the time zone (see
chapter "Initial Start Up").
• Next, the radio wall clock attempts to receive the DCF signal (see chapter "DCF Reception").
• Close the battery compartment again.
• Replacing the batteries is necessary when the battery warning symbol appears on the display.
The use of rechargeable batteries is possible. However, the lower operating voltage
(rechargeable battery = 1.2 V, battery 1.5 V) and lower capacity will reduce the operat-
ing time.
When the content of the LC display is incorrect, please press the RESET button on the
back of the housing to trigger the reset function. This will reset the internal processor
and it can resume normal operation.
Initial Start Up
• After inserting the battery, "FF" will flash in the display. This indicates the central European time
zone for the city of Frankfurt/Main.
• The time zone can be set to 28 different locations (see list in the chapter (Toggling the Time
Zone).
• Set the desired time zone by pressing the buttons "+" or "-" at the back of the housing.
• Press the ZONE button for confirmation.
If, during initial start up, no button is pressed for ten seconds, the radio wall clock
leaves this setting and starts DCF reception.
DCF Reception
After inserting the batteries and setting the time zone (see chapter "Initial Start Up"), the clock
hands move to the reception position (08:05/31st December/Sunday) and the first reception
attempt for the DCF signal is made. After successful reception of the signal, the clock hands auto-
matically move into the positions for time, date and month (only for order no. 1007801).
The detection of the DCF signal can take three to five minutes. Do not move the radio
wall clock during that time. Do not press any buttons or switches!
The IR sensors on the clock face must not be exposed to strong sun radiation during
initial startup, as they cannot work correctly otherwise. Thus, perform start up in a
shady location. When the function of the IR sensors is perturbed, the LC display will
show "KE".
Bad DCF reception can occur, for example, near metallised insulated glass, reinforced
concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic devices, or
installation in cellars.
If, after 10 minutes, the clock hands have not moved to the correct time or have moved
to the wrong time after, or if "Er" (error" is shown in the LC display, change the position
of the radio wall clock and restart the DCF reception manually (see chapter "Manual
DCF reception attempt").
The reception attempt for the daily automatic synchronisation with the DCF time is done several
times a day. One successful reception per day is sufficient to keep the deviation to less than one
second. Furthermore, the radio wall clock has additional IR sensors in the clock faces that detect
the position of the hands and thus improve the accuracy.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF transmit-
ter in Mainflingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is up to
1,500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, and even up
to 2,000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise time
(theoretical deviation of one second in a million years!) and
the date.
Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle of manually setting
summer and winter times.
