K) General / connecting measurement cables
If signal sources with BNC outputs are to be connected, a coaxial cable is usually
used for connection. These cables are screened, i.e. the inner conductor that carries
the signal is screened against spurious external signals by braided copper wires or tin-
ned copper wires. This "screen" is usually connected to the earth frame of the power
source.
Important!
Ensure that the circuits in/on which your measurements take place
are electrically isolated from the mains by an isolating transformer.
Never connect the inputs/outputs (BNC) directly to the mains supply
using chassis (=racks) on which voltage may be present or circuits
that are operated without transformers (electric isolation of input and
output). Important! Danger of fatal injury!
Comply with the max. input parameters. Never connect voltage grea-
ter than 30 Vrms to channel 1 and channel 2. Check all BNC ports for
damage or short-circuit before carrying out any measurement.
If the source resistance or the line capacitance of a direct cable connection between
the device under test and the DSO are not known, especially at high frequencies, use
a 1:10 low capacitance probe.
One option for minimising the measuring error at high frequencies in the case of coaxi-
al cables is to use a volume resistor (terminating resistor). The impedance of this resi-
stor, which is connected directly to the DSO input, must match the impedance of the
signal source and the cable.
For example: Output resistance of the frequency generator = 50 Ohm,
Line resistance of the coaxial cable used = 50 Ohm.
==> Resistance value of the terminating resistor = 50 Ohm
Important!
Never exceed the max. input parameter(s). Only measure the signal
voltages that are electrically isolated from the mains supply. The vol-
tage level must not exceed the max. value of 42 Vp or 30 Vms.
Disposal
Once the USB DSO becomes unusable (irreparable), dispose of it in accordance with
the relevant statutory regulations!

ment of the latest type, designed to the state-of-the-art. Nevertheless, faults can

dargestellt, wie "Trigger Source CH1", "Trigger Source CH2", "Trigger Up/Down",
"Normal/Auto" und "Advanced Trigger".
Run / Stop Toolbar = einzelne Menüpunkte aus "Run / Stop" zum direkten
Anklicken dargestellt, wie "Run / Stop" selbst, "Single Shot" und "Auto Set".
Was welcher Menüpunkt bedeutet, was sich dahinter verbirgt, ist im Folgetext
beschrieben.
C) Wenn Sie mit dem Mauszeiger den Menüpunkt "Channel" anklicken, wird ein Fen-
ster mit Einstellungen in Bezug auf den Eingangsteiler und der Zeitbasis aufgeklappt.
Hinter den Pfeilsymbolen der Kanäle 1 und 2 verbergen sich weitere Einstellfenster,
auf den jeweiligen Kanal bezogen.
Die Funktionen lauten im Einzelnen:
CH1 Setting = Einstellung des Eingangsteilers für Kanal 1 mit folgendem Zusatz-
fenster
ON / Off für Kanal 1 ein oder aus
AC / DC für Wechsel – oder Gleichspannungskopplung
Volt Scale für die Einstellung Volts pro division (V/div)
Select Volt/Div für die Änderung der Einstellwerte
Probe Attenuation für die Anpassung eines Tastkopfes 1:1 oder
1:10
CH2 Setting = Einstellung des Eingangsteilers für Kanal 2 mit dem gleichen
Zusatzfenster, allerdings auf Kanal 2 bezogen.
Time Scale = Einstellung der Zeitbasis Zeit pro Division (n..m..u..s/div), Zeitablen-
kung
Delay On / OFF = Zeitverzögerung ein oder aus
Cursor = Mauszeigersymbol oder Kreuzsymbol; In der Funktion "Measure" lassen
sich mit dem Cursor die horizontalen und vertikalen Cursorlinien an das Meßsignal
anlegen. der Meßwert wird in einem eigenen Fenster nebenstehend angezeigt.
