Using the Air Damper

To achieve good combustion, which results in better heating efficiency,
it is important to add the right amount of air to the fire. Air is regulated
by using the two levers that are located beneath the door of the WIKING
Olympic. The left-hand lever controls the damper for primary air, while
the one on the right controls the damper for secondary air and the
pane flush function; see figure 2.
In the table below you can see the effect on air flow in relation to the
position of the lever.

Some Things Worth Knowing about Firing

Warning:
Too much heat can destroy your wood-burning stove, the chimney and your fireplace ducts. The-
refore, if you exceed the abovementioned limits, your wood-burning stove, chimney and fireplace
duct will no longer be covered by the factory guarantee.
Effect on air flow
All air, i.e. both primary and se-
condary air, is opened up.
Primary air is closed while com-
bustion and pane-flushing air is
still completely open. By
gradually adjusting the lever to
the right, the amount of air is
lowered, and the temperature is
thereby reduced.
All air to the stove is shut off.
Used for
This setting is always to be used
when lighting a cold stove and firing
new wood.
This setting is to be used when the
wood is burning well and the flame is
even and steady. This will allow you
to get the most out of your firewood.
This setting must only be used when
the wood-burning stove is complete-
ly shut off and not in use, such as
during cleaning.
