7. Installing the Outdoor Unit

The outdoor unit should be installed in an area protected from direct precipitation (e.g. under an awning
next to the entrance door), so that the visitor is standing right in front of it when he pushes the button and
speaks into the microphone.
When drilling or tightening screws, ensure that no wires or lines are damaged! This also applies when
placing the connection cables (voltage/power supply and door opener) and any masonry work that may be
needed for this.
The figure above shows the version with one bell button; the procedure for the version with two or three bell
buttons is, however, identical.
Proceed as follows:
• Take off the weather protection frame from the outdoor unit.
• Turn the two screws (4 + 6) out at the bottom of the outdoor unit.
• Take off the aluminium-cover (fold it a little way out; it can then be removed easily).
• Pull the transparent bell button out (depending on version of the outdoor unit 1, 2 or 3 bell buttons).
• Label the name tag with permanent marker; alternatively, you can make your own tag, e.g., with a laser printer.
• Insert the name tag behind the bell button and push it back into the outdoor unit.
• Place the outdoor unit in the weather protection frame.
• Mark the mounting position on the wall through the four holes of the outdoor unit.
Select the installation height on the wall so that the speaker or the microphone in the outdoor unit is not
placed too low or too high.
• Place the connection cable between the outdoor and indoor unit and to the door opener and the power supply.
The procedure for the wiring and the connection to the voltage/power supply and the indoor unit or the door
opener is described in chapter 9.
