Phase regulator (7)
In normal use the phase control should be set to 0°. However, in rare cases it may
be advantageous to vary the phase to between 0 and 180° (e.g. if the subwoofer is
far away from the front satellites or in the event of unfavourable acoustics in the
room). Generally speaking: the setting where the lower base tone area has a more
natural sound is the correct one.
Level control (9)
This control is used to set the bass volume according to your preferences. Proceed
as follows:
1. Set the bass control of your amplifier into its centre (linear) position.
2. Important: Set the level control to its left stop (lowest volume).
3. Now, play back some music and set the volume control of the amplifier to the
desired level.
4. Set the subwoofer level control to the desired bass level.
Warning: when connecting to an AV receiver's subwoofer output, the subwoofer level
should be set to 0 dB in the receiver's set-up.
Crossover frequency control (10), SUB/LFE switch (12)
1. Switch SUB/LFE switch to 'SUB': this option is selected when a normal
(broadband) audio signal is available as the input signal (e.g. stereo mode). The
crossover frequency control is used to set the subwoofer's maximum working
frequency. The frequency should be set to 100 Hz – 150 Hz for shelf speakers.
The setting should be 50 Hz – 100 Hz for floor speakers.
2. Switch SUB/LFE switch to 'LFE': this option is selected when a low-pass filtered
signal (LFE signal) is available (e. g. connecting to the subwoofer output on an
AV receiver). The internal filter will be switched off, the crossover frequency
control will have no effect. Here, the crossover frequency between the subwoofer
and surround loudspeakers must be set on the AV receiver. Please also refer to
the AV receiver's operating instructions.
Bass EQ control (11)
The low bass range level at around 30 Hz may be varied by +/- 3dB with this control.
Which makes adapting low bass sounds to the room as well as to personal taste
easy.
