• Please read these operating instructions carefully and keep them in a
safe place.
• Before using for the fi rst time, boil fresh water at least twice in the appliance.
Use only water without any additives or ingredients.
1. Place the machine on a fl at surface. Please ensure that the mains lead does
not become tangled up.
2. Open the kettle by fi rst pushing the catch in the lid towards the back and then
pulling the lid upwards. Then fi ll in the water. Please only fi ll up to the maxi-
mum (MAX) mark. You can read off the water level in the water level display.
3. Close the lid until you hear it lock in place.
4. Place the kettle fl ush on the base.
5. Electrical connection
• Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as
that of the machine. Details are to be found on the label on the base.
• Only connect the machine to a properly installed 230 V, 50 Hz safety
socket.
6. The kettle is switched on by pressing the ON button in the handle.
7. The control lamp lights up.
8. After boiling the device switches off automatically, or you can press the OFF
switch to interrupt or stop the boiling process. Disconnect the kettle from the
mains. When pouring the water out, keep the lid closed. Danger of scalding!
• Always pull out the plug from the socket before cleaning!
• The exterior of the machine should be cleaned, if necessary, with a slightly
damp cloth without additives.
• The interior can be cleaned either with a damp cloth or with detergent.
• There is a permanent fi lter in the spout. In order to clean the fi lter press it with
the lid open in the direction of the spout and pull it out. Rinse out the fi lter with
running water.
• The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the hardness of the
water and on how often the appliance is used.
• If the machine switches off before the water boils, it probably needs to be
decalcifi ed.
• Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available decalcifi cation agent
on the basis of citric acid. Only use the quantities stated in the instructions.
