Auxiliary heater
24n
When the engine is cold, a fuel-burning
auxiliary heater helps to warm up the
interior more quickly. The waste gas
from the combustion process escapes
beneath the door sill on the driver's
side.
If the engine is switched off before it
has reached its normal operating tem-
perature, the auxiliary heater will con-
tinue to run for a while, during which
time it will also continue to produce
waste gas.
Towing a trailer
Gradients
On cars with automatic transmis-
sion, select position "D" when
driving on lengthy uphill stretches; the
fuel could otherwise be susceptible to
the formation of bubbles due to over-
heating, as a result of which the engine
could cut
out.<
See the Owner's Handbook for further
notes on towing a trailer.
