5. Adjustment of lamp position (Fig. 6)
B
Turn the condenser up-down knob (Fig. 2, No. 23) to move the
condenser to the reticle position (Fig. 2, No. 22), so that both
marking lines are at the same height. Then put a piece of whi-
te paper on the filter seat (Fig. 1, No. 2). Adjust the collector
adjustment lever (1), make the image of the filament clear on
the paper. If the filament image is not on the center of the
overpass hole, you should loosen the lamp holder fixing screw
(2) and the lamp holder adjusment pole (Fig. 2, No. 18). Then
move the lamp holder (3) in order to locate the image of the fi-
lament on the center of the overpass hole. Now, tighten the
lamp holder fixing screw and the lamp holder adjustment po-
le to fix the lamp. So, you fix the position of the lamp.
6. Adjustment of the field diaphragm (Fig. 1 & 2)
Turn the 10x objective to the working position and observe
with it. Turn the coarse/fine focusing knob (8 and 11) in order
to make the image of the object clear. Turn the field diaphragm
adjustment lever (20) to adjust the diminishing of the field dia-
phragm. Turn the condenser up-down knob (23) to gain the
image of the field diaphragm, then adjust the condenser ad-
justment screw (14) to center the field diaphragm and the eye-
piece diaphragm. Turn the field diaphragm adjustment lever
(20) in order to fit the size of the field diaphragm to the eyepie-
ce diaphragm.
7. Adjustment of condenser aperture diaphragm (Fig. 1)
Drehen Sie den Aperturblenden-Einstellring (16), um die nu-
merische Apertur des Kondensors passend zur numerischen
Apertur des Objektivs einzustellen. So können Sie eine zufrie-
denstellende Beleuchtung und einen vorteilhaften Kontrast-
eindruck erhalten.
8. Power switch and brightness control (Fig. 2)
Push the power switch (27) to "I" position; now, the power is
switched on. Then adjust the brightness control knob (28) to
observe the image of the object comfortably.
NOTICE: Don't let the brightness control knob on the highest
position for a long time, to avoid depressing the lifetime of the
lamp.

9. Phase contrast attachment (Fig. 7 & 8)
G
1. Adjust the field diaphragm according to paragraph "6. Ad-
justment of the field diaphragm" and move the condenser
to the corresponding position.
2. Turn the aperture diaphragm adjustment swivel (Fig. 1, No.
16) to open the aperture diaphragm maximally.
3. Turn the corresponding phase contrast objective (Fig. 1,
No. 12) to the working position.
4. Take out one eyepiece, insert the centering telescope (1) in-
to the eyepiece holder and adjust it. Make the image of the
annular phase contrast dark halo (Fig. 8, No. 2) and of the
annular diaphragm light halo (Fig. 8, No. 1) clear.

C
5. Adjust the annular diaphragm adjustment screw (Fig. 1,
No. 4). Superposition the annular diaphragm light halo (Fig.
8, No. 1) and the annular phase contrast dark halo (Fig. 8,
No. 2).
6. Take out the centering telescope and insert the eyepiece to
observe with phase contrast.
7. If you change to a phase contrast objective of another mag-
nification, you have to adjust according to above again.
10. Exchange of the lamp (Fig. 6)
1. Switch off the power switch (Fig. 2, No. 27) and pull out the
mains plug.
2. Loosen the lamp holder fixing screw (2) and the lamp hol-
der adjustment pole (Fig. 2, No. 18). Remove the lamp hol-
