Loosen the screw in the bottom of the chuck using a screw-
driver (NB! Turn clockwise to loosen).
Hold the chuck spindle firmly using a spanner, and gently
tap the chuck key in a clockwise direction (seen from the
front) using a wooden mallet to loosen the chuck.
To replace the chuck, reverse the above procedure.
Changing drill bits
Insert the chuck key in one of the three holes on the side of
the chuck, turn anti-clockwise to open.
Insert the desired bit in the chuck and turn the chuck key
clockwise until the chuck has a firm grip on the bit.
Check that the bit is placed in the centre of the chuck and
that it is secure. Replace the chuck key in its holder (7) on
the power cable (8), so that it will be easy to find.
Adjustment of depth guide
To drill several holes to the same depth, use the depth guide
(11). Loosen the support handle, set the guide to the re-
quired depth and tighten the handle again.
Use
Fit a suitable bit for the job and adjust the depth guide
again if required.
Select drill or hammer drill using the toggle switch (12).
Select hammer drill for masonry, stone and cement. Se-
lect standard drill for wood, metals, marble, tiles, lime
cement or man-made materials.
Select drill direction (left (L) or right (R)) on the toggle switch
(3).
Select drill speed on the speed adjustment button (10).
Start the drill by pressing the on/off button (4).
For continuous use over extended periods, the on/off
button can be held down by pressing the lock button (5)
in at the same time the on/off button is depressed. The
lock button can be released by pressing the on/off but-
ton in as far as it will go.
Let the drill achieve full speed before applying it to the
item or surface to be drilled.
Do not press too hard. Select a slow drill speed for large
bits or hard materials, and a faster speed for small bits
or softer materials.
Good advice for drilling
Stop the drill by releasing the on/off button.
When drilling smooth surfaces, e.g. tiles, apply a piece of
strong tape to the drill site before starting to drill, to avoid
the bit slipping.
When drilling steel, always use a punch first on the drill site.
When drilling thin sheet metal, place a piece of waste tim-
ber under the item to avoid deforming the sheet.
When drilling metal, apply lubricating oil to the drill site. Use
machine oil for steel and paraffin oil for aluminium.
To avoid splinters when drilling wood, place a piece of waste
timber under the item, or drill from both sides
When drilling large holes, use a small diameter bit first and
then the larger, desired diameter.

Cleaning and maintenance

Wipe the drill using a well-wrung cloth after use, and al-
ways keep the surface and ventilation holes (9) free of dirt.
Never use corrosive or abrasive detergents, as they may
attack the plastic parts of the machine.
Remove the chuck regularly (see Cleaning and maintenance),
and remove all accummulated dust, filings and dirt.
Check regularly that the carbon brushes are in good condi-
tion. If they are worn down, they should be replaced.
