Operation

a) Switching on/off
Keep the "POWER/MENU" button (2) pressed for about 5 seconds to switch the PMR radio device
on or off.
When the device is switched off, the time is displayed.
If you keep the button pressed only for 2 - 3 seconds, the button lock is activated, see
section i).
b) Setting the volume
If the PMR radio device is switched on and the setup menu is not opened, you can set the playback
volume by pressing the "UP" (5) or "DOWN" button (7) briefly several times. The bar indicator (G)
at the bottom left of the display shows the volume currently set.
c) Setup menu
You can open the different setup functions by pressing the "POWER/MENU" button (2) briefly sev-
eral times. The value to be set flashes. The setting can be changed with the arrow buttons "UP" (5)
and "DOWN" (7).
If no button is pressed for several seconds, the settings made so far are saved and the setup mode
will be exited. Alternatively, you can briefly press the "PTT" button (8).
The following functions can be set (press the "POWER/MENU" button (2) correspondingly often):
1 Select channel
2 Select sub-channel (CTCSS 1- 38, DCS 39 - 99)
3 Switch off VOX mode or select sensitivity level 1, 2 or 3
4 Set the hours of the time display (only 12h mode possible; "pm" is shown in the display in the
afternoon)
5 Set the minutes of the time display
6 Switch the alarm function on/off (if the alarm function is switch on ("ON"), the alarm time can
then be set; to do this, briefly press the "POWER/MENU" button (2) to toggle the setup of the
hours and minutes of the alarm time)
7 Select the alarm tone (9 different alarm tones are available)
8 Switch the voice scrambler function on/off
9 Stop watch mode: Start/stop the stop watch with the "UP" button (5) or "DOWN" button (7),
reset to "0:00:00" with the "SCAN" button (1)
10 Switch SOS mode on/off (if the SOS mode is switched on ("ON"), an alarm duration can then
be set.
"3-5" = 3 seconds alarm tone + 3 seconds standby
"5-5" = 5 seconds alarm tone + 5 seconds standby
"10-5" = 10 seconds alarm tone + 10 seconds standby
To start the SOS call, hold the "DOWN" button (7) pressed until the "SOS" symbol (H) flashes.
End the alarm by pressing the "DOWN" button (7) briefly.
d) Using VHF/FM radio
Since the headset serves as antenna, it must be connected to the PMR radio device.
Therefore, radio playback with the integrated loudspeaker (9) is only possible with very
strong radio senders.
Keep the "UP" button (5) pressed until the "FM" symbol (N) appears; the currently set frequency
is also displayed (e.g. 885 for 88.5 MHz). Release the key. VHF/FM radio is activated (Volume can
not be changed).
If you want to change the frequency, hold the "UP" button (5) pressed again until the frequency
appears. Then release the button for a moment. The frequency can now be changed by pressing
the "UP" button (5) or "DOWN" button (7) briefly several times (press the "SCAN" button (1) for
tuning short).
e) Sending voice signals
To send voice signals, hold the "PTT" button (8) pressed and speak into the microphone of the
PMR radio device.
If you have connected the headset, you either have to hold the "PTT" button (8) at the PMR radio
device or the button on the headset pressed.
Release the button again when you want to finish voice transmission.
f) Receiving voice signals
To be able to receive voice signals, you must set the same channel as on the PMR radio device
sending the voice signal.
The PMR radio device is always ready to receive (if it is switched on).
To be able to receive a voice transmission, the "PTT" button (8) on the PMR radio de-
vice or the headset must not be pressed.
In contrast to standard DECT or mobile telephones, voice transmission is only possible
in one direction.
Therefore, you can either send or receive with a PMR radio device but not both at the
same time.
g) Sending a call tone
Press the "PTT" button (8) on the PMR radio device twice subsequently (or press the button on
the headset).
All PMR radio devices on the same channel now emit a sound.
It can be used, for example, if you want to alert other participants that a voice transmis-
sion will follow (and you do not want to start a voice transmission yourself).
h) Scan mode
To check all 8 channels subsequently for a voice transmission, briefly press the "SCAN" button (1).
If the PMR radio device finds a signal, the scan stops.
i) Switching the button lock on/off
Keep the "POWER/MENU" button (2) pressed for about 2 - 3 seconds to switch the button lock
on or off.
A key symbol (J) appears in the display when the button lock is switched on.
Range
The range of the transmission of the radio signals between two PMR radio devices can be up to
7 kilometres.
However, the range can be strongly reduced depending on the ambient conditions.
Mountains as well as buildings, trees, power lines, weather conditions, ground composition, hu-
midity, etc. have a negative effect on the range. In inhabited areas, the range may be only a few
100 m, but can be several kilometres in flat areas in open landscape (e.g. across a lake).
Due to the different influences on the radio transmission, no specific range can be guaranteed.
Disposal
a) General
The product must not be disposed of with the household waste.
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
Remove any inserted rechargeable batteries and dispose of them separately from the
product.
b) Disposal of used batteries/rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/recharge-
able batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with
these symbols to indicate that the disposal of them in the household waste is forbidden.
The symbols of the critical heavy metals are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead.
You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the official collection
points in your community, in our stores, or at places where batteries or rechargeable batteries
are sold!
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment!
Maintenance and cleaning
The product is maintenance-free for you; you should never dismantle it (except for inserting/re-
placing the rechargeable batteries as described in these operating instructions). Any maintenance
or repair work may be performed only by an expert.
The outside of the housing should only be cleaned with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions that could damage the
housing (discolouring) or impair operation. Also, do not press too hard on the display,
as this may cause scratch marks or damage the display.
Never dip the product in or under water, as this may destroy it.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
