The digital input signals from either of three pos-
sible inputs are fed to a receiver chip, specially
designed for these kinds of signals.
Its task is to transform the incoming data words to
a standard suitable to the following circuitry. The
receiver scans the data at 64-times oversampling.
Furthermore, it determines a sampling rate for in-
ternal processing of the digital signals.
The transformed signal is fed to a digital filter
With 20-bit input and 22-bit output width, operating
at 8-times oversampling. Its stopband rejec-tion
exceeds 100 dB.
After filtering, the actual D-to-A conversion is pro-
cessed. The converter chip is divided into left and
right channel, with 20 bit input width. Internally, it
consists of two symmetrically operating 19-bit con-
verters with output summing.

Due to massive oversampling, the digital noise sig-
nals are of very high frequency in comparison with
the analog audio signal. Therefore, there is no
need for sophisticated low-pass filtering of the con-
verted signal. The filter used is three-pole GIC ty-
pe. This design has no capacitors within the signal
path and has proven convenient and natural soun-
ding in comparison with other filter designs during
listening tests.
The filter feeds the analog signals to the trimpot le-
vel control and the output stages. In standard ver-
sion, these are electronically balanced. Transfor-
mer balancing is available as an option.
