5.2 PREMIERE PARENTAL CONTROL FUNCTION

In addition to the general, programme-related parental control, as described in Chapter 4.1.4.,
your unit also has an additional Premiere function designed for the protection of minors. The
protection of minors is important to Premiere. Through this PIN-code input you have the
possibility to watch minor protected programmes even into the next day without neglecting the
minor protection issue. For the release of these minor protected programmes a by law prescribed
code is required. This code is realised by the FSK (Voluntary Self Control) commanded by the
«Obersten Landesjugendbehörden".
A four-digit PIN-Code is required to unlock a programme where the minor protection function is
active. Your PIN-Code is provided together with your Premiere Smartcard.
N.B.:
Please note that the PIN-Code is stored on your Premiere Smartcard and cannot
be changed.
When the minor protection function is activated, the PIN-Code prompt cannot be
deactivated for legal reasons.
Once a programme has been unlocked, this function does not need to be repeated
if you quickly switch over to another channel and then return to the original
channel.
However, if a programme for which the block has been previously unlocked is
followed by a programme section without any minor protection classification and
then by a programme with minor protection classification, the unit prompts you to
enter the PIN-Code again.
N.B.:
Do not forget the PIN-Code and keep all relevant documentation in a safe place.
If the PIN-Code is entered incorrectly three times in a row, the PIN-Code input
function is blocked for approximately 10 minutes. The number of incorrect attempts
and/or the 10-minute block also cannot be reset by switching the unit to stand-by
mode.
N.B.:
Different PINs apply for parental control and for minor protection functions:

? ? ? ?
If both PINs are activated, the 5-digit parental control PIN is requested first of all,
after which the 4-digit PIN-Code for the release of minor protected programmes is
requested.
N.B.:
The 5-digit PIN may be defined by the user. In order not to have to remember
more than one PIN-Code, the Premiere PIN-Code for the release of a minor
protection clasified programme e.g. could be preceded by a 0 for the parental
control PIN-code (cf. Chapter 4.1.4).
5.3 TIMER PROGRAMMING FOR PROGRAMMES
WITH MINOR PROTECTION FEATURE
If you wish to record Premiere programmes using your video cassette recorder via the automatic
timer programming function, you must ensure that any minor protection classification this
programme may have is included when setting up timer programming (cf. Chapter 3.7).
You can input the 4-digit PIN-Code in advance for each of the 8 timer events using the RC key.
Note that this PIN-Code is only valid for the programme selected.
A PIN-Code entered in this way is marked by an «(x)" in the input line.
N.B.:
Please note that this initial PIN-Code is only valid for the next programme in each
case.
5-digit: parental control (defined on unit, relative to storage
location)
4-digit: minor protection (defined by Premiere
CI-Module/Smartcard)
