6. Installation and Maintenance

6.1.
Adjusting the Flow Rate
The flow rate of the filter can be adjusted directly on the outlet of the
nozzle. Rotate the valve toward min or max.
6.2.
Maintenance
The motor is fully encapsulated and self protected against
overheating and needs no particular care. If the pump fails to
work, first check the electrical supply, connections, circuit
breaker etc. If these are correct, the pump needs to be
cleaned. Regularly clean pump cover, impeller and pump body to remove
any debris and lime-scale which could block the unit.
6.3.
Cleaning
Prior to any work on the unit disconnect all electrical
appliances from the mains. Remove the pump cover and pull
the impeller from its location. Carefully rinse all components
under running water cleaning with a non-metallic brush such
as toothbrush. If necessary remove lime-scale by leaving the components
immersed in vinegar or lemon juice for a few hours. Reassemble the unit so
that all components are placed in their original position. Regularly clean the
dirt from the BIOTEC filter foams under lukewarm water without using
detergents.
6.4.
Assembling of pump (or two pumps) to the filter
The VARI0 1000 E Pond filter can be used either with one or two pumps.
To open the filter just press on the side of the front cover as shown as in
Abb. 1. To install one or two pumps, simply slide it (or them) inside the front
cover part and, depending on the solution you have chosen, connect the
pump to a hose or to a spray head. The cable can be fixed in the special
slots at the rear cover of the filter (See Abb. 4). The nozzle can be fixed to
the filter by sliding the half-handle in its position (As shown in Abb. 2)
6.5.
Filling the Ballast Chambers
To avoid the filter „swimming" around your pond, every module of the unit is
equipped with two ballast chambers. Simply fill the chambers with coarse
sand, small pebbles or other heavy media. Close the chambers with the
supplied plastic taps. (Abb. 5)
