• TRIMMING/MOWING Swing trimmer with a sickle-like motion from side
to side. Do not tilt the head. Test area to be trimmed for suitable cutting
height. Keep the cutting line at same level for even depth of cut.
• CLOSER TRIMMING Position trimmer directly ahead with a slight tilt so
the bottom of the cutting head is above ground level and cutting contact
occurs at the required level. Always cut away from operator. Do not pull

line comes in contact with rock, brick walls, or foundations, it will break
or fray. If the line snags fencing, it will snap off. Use the wire guide.

• TRIMMING AROUND TREES. Trim around tree trunks carefully so line
does not contact bark. Walk around the tree trimming from left to right.
Approach grass or weeds with the tip of the line and tilt the cutting head
slightly forward.
A
• SCALPING Scalping refers to the removal of all vegetation down to
the ground. To do this, tilt the cutting head to about a 30 degree angle
to the left. By adjusting the handle you will have better control during
this operation. Always keep a distance of 15m (50ft) from people and
animals when scalping. Do not attempt this procedure if there is any
chance that flying debris could injure you or other people or cause
damage to property.
• OPERATING AS AN EDGER With the unit configured as an edger, hold
6
it so the motor is to your left side so that debris is thrown to the rear.
Always use eye protection. Place edge guide wheel on hard surface
(path. driveway etc) with the trimmer line in the grass.
• DO NOT SWEEP WITH TRIMMER (Fig.14)
• DO NOT BUMP TRIMMER ON CONCRETE. This can damage the
cutting head. Head feeds automatically. (Fig.15)

• Unplug the trimmer.
• Remove the spool assembly from the trimmer. To do so, hold the
two cap release latches with one hand. Pull cap away from the hub.
Remove spool. (Fig.16)
• Measure and cut 2 pieces of line approx 3m in length. Put each line
into a slot of the spool.
• Wind the line onto the spool by turning the spool in the direction of the
arrows (Fig.17)
16
17
• Wrap the line snugly around the spool. Wind it until there is about
100mm of line left. Be sure to not twist or cross line when winding.
• Lock the ends of the lines in the notches of the spool. (Fig.18)
• Insert the line through each eyelet in the hub. (Fig.19) Straighten
the lines.
• Make sure lines feed smoothly.
• Replace cap securely on hub.
• In the event of the line breaking inside the spool, repeat the replacement
operation.
• Start the grass trimmer following the instructions in the BEFORE
STARTING THE UNIT section.

19
maIntenance
• After use, disconnect the machine from the mains and check for
damage.
• Mains powered trimmers should only be repaired by an authorised
service centre using only the manufacturer's recommended
replacement parts and accessories.
• Carry out general cleaning of all the grass trimmer and its ancillary
parts. This prevents mould from forming.
• If the supply cord needs replacing, the task must be carried out by the
manufacturer, the manufacturer's agent, or a power tool repair centre
in order to avoid a safety hazard.
storaGe
• Store it out of the reach of children, in a stable and safe position and in
a dry place where the temperature is not too hot or too cold.
• Store the trimmer away from direct sunlight, if possible in a dark or
barely lit place.
• Do not store in a nylon bag as this could encourage the formation of
mould.
• Do not store the grass trimmer resting on the floor. Hang it by the upper
handgrip, so that the guard does not touch anything. Resting the guard
on a surface could alter its shape and therefore its dimensions and thus
compromise safety.
