Chapter 1: Introduction
About This Guide
This Quick Start Guide (QSG) is designed to quickly familiarize the user with the
fader bay layout, show how to connect, configure and set up the control surface.
This document is aimed at professional engineers, such as Front Of House (FOH)
and Monitor (MON) engineers, who will be using this equipment in a live sound
environment. This document assumes that the reader has previous experience of
using professional audio equipment.
HD96-FB16 System Firmware Version
To achieve the best results from your fader bay, you should make sure the latest
firmware version is installed on your system. Firmware updates for the fader
bay are carried out via HD96 consoles. Please take care that your HD96-FB16
has the correct firmware version to support the firmware version installed
on your console.
HD96-FB16 Operating Conditions
WARNING: The HD96-FB16 should NOT be placed or operated in direct sunlight.
If the unit is exposed to direct sunlight, it may become unresponsive and too hot
to handle. Please ensure you have a suitable cover for your control surface.

standard 1-year warranty, which can be extended to 3 years by registering your
product within 90 days of purchase.

Introducing the HD96-FB16 Fader Bay

Now, Midas is proud to introduce the HD96-FB16 to the Heritage Digital series.
HD96-FB16 can be used with any of the HD Series consoles for greater mix control.

Chapter 3: About the Fader Bay
The HD96-FB16 has been designed to maximise portability while still providing
key functionality. This fader bay's highly flexible and assignable surface controls
expand the mixing capabilities of the larger HD96 units, all delivered in a clean,
streamlined format that integrates seamlessly and easily into your workflow.
Fader bay layout
The HD96-FB16 surface can be split into 4 distinct areas making operation
quick and precise with all controls close to hand. The areas are defined in the
diagram below.

SCRIBBLE STRIPS – These LCD displays indicate various parameters and
labels as shown in the HD96 software.

AC POWER SWITCH – Press to power on the unit.

Chapter 4: System Setup
Unpacking the equipment
After carefully unpacking the equipment, save all packing materials, as they will
prove useful should it become necessary to transport the equipment later. Inspect
the equipment carefully for any sign of damage incurred during transportation.
This equipment has undergone stringent quality control inspection and tests
prior to packing and was in perfect condition when it left the factory. However,
if the equipment shows any signs of damage, notify the transportation company
without delay. Only you, the consignee, may institute a claim against the carrier
for damage during transportation.
Clearance at rear of units
Ensure an adequate clearance at the rear of the units to provide sufficient free
space to enable cables to achieve their minimum bend radius.
To power up the system
Switching on the HD96-FB16
1.
Plug the connectors of the mains cable into the IEC mains socket on the rear
of the HD96-FB16.
2.
Plug the mains cable into the mains power outlet.
3.
Make sure the USB PORT on the back panel is connected to the FADER PORTS
of the console.
4.
Turn on the power to the HD96-FB16 surface by moving the AC POWER
switch to the "on" position. The surface will boot up. Once the buttons and
scribble strip screens are lit, the unit is ready for use.
