V. Preparing cordless
power tools for use
WARNING
y Always use tools that are in perfect condition in the
cordless power tools.
PREPARING
THE CORDLESS DRILL FOR USE
WARNING
y Always use the model of the cordless drill Extol®
Industrial 8791800/8791801 with the front handle
installed (it is not supplied with the other models). In
order for the front handle to be seated on the body of
the cordless drill, it is necessary to turn the grip part of
the handle to increase the range of the handle clamp.
After seating the handle on the neck of the cordless drill
according to fig. 1, secure it firmly in place by turning
the grip part of the handle.
1. Slide the battery into the grooves in the handle of the
cordless drill (see. fig. 1).
2. Use the rotating ring for setting the work mode (fig.
1, position 3) to set the required work mode (does not
apply for model Extol® Premium 8891800, 8891801,
8891802).
y For the mode for drilling into concrete, masonry, etc.,
set the work mode to drilling with percussion (ham-
mer symbol on the ring).
y For the screwing/tightening/loosening mode, set the
screwdriver work mode (screw symbol on the ring).
y For drilling with percussion into wood, plastic and simi-
lar materials, set the mode to drilling without per-
cussion (drill bit symbol) on the ring. For the drilling
mode on model Extol® Premium 8891800, 8891801,
8891802 turn the ring (fig.1, position 2) to the position
of the drill bit.
y After setting the required work mode, turn the ring so
that the symbol corresponding to the work mode is in
the location of the arrow on the body of the drill.
EN
SETTING THE ROTATION SPEED
FOR THE WORK MODE
y Using the rotation speed toggle switch (fig. position
4), set the speed based on the type of work that is
performed.
y Always set a lower speed for the screwdriver/tighte-
ning/loosening mode (at lower rotation speeds the
torque is higher). When a lower speed is set, the num-
ber "1" can be seen on the switch.
y For the drilling mode, use the switch to set a higher
speed. When a higher speed is set, the number "2" can
be seen on the switch.
ATTENTION
y Do not set the speed level and torque while the drill is
running.
CHANGING THE SPINDLE ROTATION
DIRECTION
y Change the rotation direction using the toggle switch
as shown in fig. 1, position 6.
SETTING AN APPROPRIATE TORQUE
y In order not to strip the edges of the driver bits and the
drive in the head of the screw or damage the material
into which the joining element is screwed by an exce-
ssively large torque, e.g. when screwing thin screws
into soft materials, it is appropriate to turn the ring (fig.
1, position 3) to set a gradually increasing torque in the
range 1-X based on the model of the drill. For setting
the torque, the numerical value must be located before
the arrow on the body of the cordless drill (does not
apply to model Extol® Industrial 8791800/8791801, on
which it is possible to set an intermediate value). When
the set torque is reached, the driver bit will stop turning
and the spindle inside the cordless drill will start to
"skip" with a regular audible
"trr..trr..trr" sound. If the screw is not sufficiently
screwed in or out at this torque setting, it is necessary
to increase it by the necessary amount. It is appropriate
to set the torque by means of a practical test on a sam-
ple of the screwed material using the same material
and screw as on the final job.
178
TORQUE BEHAVIOUR
y From the start of screwing screws into soft wood or plas-
tic (soft materials) the torque gradually increases depen-
ding on the depth of the screwed in screw (see the curve
on the graph with gradual ramp-up, i.e. "soft" torque). In
the case of tightening, the torque will start to suddenly
increase very quickly until the max. torque value set on
the ring of the cordless drill is reached, within the scope
of the preset speed level 1 or 2, and this is accompanied
by a "trr... trr... trr..." sound. (see the curve in the graph
with the sharp increase in torque, i.e. "hard" torque).

SETTING THE SPINDLE ROTATION
DIRECTION
y To set the desired rotation direction of the chuck head,
press the rotation direction toggle switch, fig. 1, position 6).
INSERTING/EXCHANGING A TOOL PIECE
Grasping the chuck head in the hand and
turning the spindle to the left by pressing the
trigger (fig. 1, position 11), the chuck will
SPINLOCK
open up for the insertion of the shank of the
tool. Insert the shank of the tool sufficiently
deep into the chuck to ensure that the tool is securely clam-
ped for work. Then clamp the tool in place by closing the
chuck by turning the spindle in the opposite direction.
Thanks to the "spin lock" function, rotation of the spindle will
automatically be blocked when the chuck head is held in the
hand, meaning that a tool replacement is easy to do by hand.
Starting the drill will automatically unblock the spindle.
y For drilling, use the drill bit intended for the given
material. For drilling into wood, use a wood drill bit and
for drilling into metal use a metal drill bit.
179
INSERTING THE BATTERY INTO THE HANDLE
OF THE CORDLESS DRILL
y Insert the battery into the handle of the cordless drill so
that it clicks in, see fig. 1, position 10.
PREPARING THE CORDLESS
ANGLE GRINDER FOR USE
WARNING
y Only install the guard, handle and disc with the battery
removed from the angle grinder!
INSTALLATION OF THE ADDITIONAL
(FRONT) HANDLE
WARNING
y The angle grinders must not be used without the front
handle installed.
y Screw the additional front handle into the respective
holes in the body of the angle grinder (fig. 7), depen-
ding on the task being performed.
y For cutting, screw it into the hole on the right or left
side of the angle grinder based on whether you are
right- or left-handed.
y Screw it into the hole in the top part of the angle grin-
der when using the angle grinder for planar sanding/
grinding, see fig. 7.
