2
Wizard, which will guide you through the
following steps
a. Create your Carelink Personal account on https://carelink.minimed.eu
GOOD TO KNOW
You can directly do so from your mobile device following
the Wizard. Don't forget to scroll to the very top of the
page to complete the verification. After clicking on the "I
am not a robot" box, you will be required to tick on some
images before completing your registration.
b. Pair your transmitter, following the steps on the screen.
c. Insert and start your sensor. Gather all of your supplies including your
serter, sensor, sensor overtape and your transmitter. Refer to your serter
user guide for instructions on how to insert the sensor. Once you have
inserted and taped your sensor, connect your transmitter to the sensor
and press "Start New Sensor" on your Guardian Connect app Wizard to
complete the sensor start up.
d. Personalize your alerts. You will then be asked to set-up
your alerts and thresholds. You will be able to modify those
from the app later.
Calibrate your system when "Calibrate Now"
3
alerts occur
Calibrations are necessary to keep displaying sensor glucose
readings and to ensure optimal sensor accuracy. To calibrate,
you must take a BG (fingerstick) and immediately enter that
value into your Guardian Connect app by pressing on the
"Drop" icon .
The best time to calibrate is usually just before meals or before going
to bed. Calibrations are key for system accuracy and will be requested
by the app.

Right after inserting a new sensor, on day 1:
Within 2 hours after you connect the transmitter to your sensor and start

the warm up period a "Calibrate Now" alert will occur. Following this first
calibration your sensor readings will start displaying within 5 minutes.
3 or 6 hours after the first calibration, the second calibration will be due.

To know by when this second calibration is due, tap the "Drop" icon.
After the first two start-up calibrations, calibrations are needed every
12 hours.
GOOD TO KNOW
The Guardian Connect system monitors your sensor
readings throughout the day to ensure your sensor
glucose readings remain accurate. In some cases, the
system may require you to calibrate the sensor more
frequently if it detects the accuracy could be improved. "Calibrate
Now" alerts may occur more frequently than every 12 hours to
maintain the accuracy of your sensor. The "Drop" icon timing will be
updated automatically.
(Optionally) Create accounts for your
4
care partners, and contact them with this
information for them to finish the set-up
Press the Menu icon on the top left corner of the Home Screen of the app.
Tap on Sync to CareLink / Manage Care Partners. You are automatically
redirected to the CareLink Connect tab on https://carelink.minimed.eu.
Log-in with your CareLink credentials. Then tap the Menu button on the
top left corner / Connect Settings / Add Care Partner.
Fill-in the mandatory fields for your care partner (First, Last name).
Create a username and temporary password for him, then click Save.
This temporary password is valid for 24 hours.
You are not yet connected to your care partner.
Now, you need to contact your care partner.
Provide them with their temporary CareLink credentials.

There is no need for your care partner to download the

Guardian Connect App.
Tell your care partner they have 24 hours to log-in to

https://carelink.minimed.eu (from any Internet connected devices)
to finish setting up their account.
Your care partner will be requested to change their password upon

logging in to https://carelink.minimed.eu for the first time.
They will then be requested to submit their mobile phone number and

select the SMS alerts they wish to receive.
Only after you have completed these steps, will you be connected and
sharing your glucose information with your care partner.
GOOD TO KNOW
To use care partner alerts successfully:
Your smartphone must be connected to WiFi or a

mobile data network (e.g. a 3G or 4G network), and
be running the Guardian Connect app.
Your care partner must have an active CareLink Connect

account, with the desired alerts enabled on the CareLink
Connect settings screen.
Your care partner should adjust the alert delay setting as

needed. With no delay set, alerts will be forwarded to your care
partner if you don't snooze or clear them immediately (within
about 10-15 seconds).
SMS alerts can help care partners stay updated about your glucose
levels. However, interruptions to your Internet connection or your
care partner's mobile network could result in SMS alerts not being
received. It is important you and your care partner do not rely
exclusively on these alerts as part of your diabetes treatment plan.
For more information on the CareLink Connect tab and how to manage
care partners, please refer to the CareLink Connect User Guide found in the
CareLink Connect tab of CareLink Personal.
