1) The specified lighting time relates to a fully charged battery without the use
of the cordless screwdriver.
2) The acoustic pressure, power and vibrations value was determined accor-
ding to the requirements of norm EN 62841-1/EN 62841-2-2 and so this
value may be used to estimate the effect of vibrations on a worker when
also using other power tools.
3) The specified vibration value may differ depending on the size of the bolts
and the applied load.
It is necessary to determine the safety measurement for the protection of the
operator, which is based on the assessment of the effect of vibrations on a wor-
ker under real operating conditions, whilst it is necessary to include the time for
which the tool is turned off or in operation but not being used. Define additional
measures for the protection of the operator against the effects of vibrations,
which include the maintenance of the tool and insertion tools, organisation of
the work activity, etc.
II. Description - purpose of use
The Extol® Craft 402114 Cordless Screwdriver is intended for tightening
and loosening bolts, nuts and small short wood screws, e.g. for the assem-
bly of furniture.
y The tool's chuck is a hexagon for 1/4" shank driver bits with a locking
mechanism that prevents driver bits from falling out of the chuck, see Fig. 1.
y The handle of the cordless screwdriver can be rotated to be in-line with the body
(extend the body) and screw locations that are farther away, which, without this
function, would be unreachable with a cordless screwdriver, see Fig. 2.
y The cordless screwdriver has an optimal torque setting ring for protection
against „stripping" of the bolt head or the edge of a driver bit or damaging
the material being screwed during tightening or loosening, which could
occur if a higher torque than necessary were used, see Fig. 3.
y Prior to using the cordless screwdriver, the indicator LED diodes will show
the battery power level, so allow it to fully recharge when planning longer
use, see Fig. 4.
y Thanks to the Li-ion battery, it can be recharged even when not completely
flat, without lowering its capacity, which makes it possible to have the
cordless screwdriver quickly ready for longer use.
y The Li-ion battery loses power due to the self-discharge effect very slowly
and will remain charged for a long time. This means that the cordless
screwdriver can be used immediately when needed without the need to
recharge after a long without operation.
EN
y The cordless screwdriver has an automatic spindle lock that is engaged
when the trigger is released, meaning that if the battery is flat, the cordless
screwdriver can be used in the same way as a standard hand screwdriver by
simply rotating its body.
y The LED diode under the body of the cordless screwdriver lights up the work
area when the cordless screwdriver is started, see Fig. 6.
y The integrated LED flashlight at the bottom of the handle makes it possible
to use the cordless screwdriver as a lamp during poor light conditions at the
work area, see Fig. 7.

CHARGING THE CORDLESS SCREWDRIVER

Table 1
ATTENTION
y The cordless screwdriver is supplied in a partially charged state, meaning
that it needs to be charged before use.
Press the button shown in Fig. 8, position 4 to check the battery power level
(also see Fig. 4). The battery power level is signalled by the respective colour of
the lit LED diode. If this button is pressed, the diode, amongst others, is also lit
green, the battery is fully charged. If the orange and red diode is lit without the
green diode, the battery is half charged. If only the red diode is lit, the battery is
flat and needs to be charged.
1. Insert the charger connector into the cordless screwdriver connector, Fig.
9, position 9. Always first connect the charger connector to the cordless
screwdriver connector before plugging the charger into a power socket.
2. Before inserting the charger into a power socket, check that the voltage
in the power socket corresponds to 220-240 V~50 Hz. The charger can be
used in this voltage range.
Before plugging the charger into a power socket, check all its parts
for damage; if any part is damaged, do not use the charger and have it
replaced at an authorised Extol® brand service centre (service locations are
listed at the website address at the start of this manual).
y After connecting the charger to a power socket, the red LED diode will
be lit without the button (Fig. 8, position 4) being pressed. When the
battery is fully charged, only the green diode will remain lit without the
button (Fig. 8, position 4) being pressed. The battery power level can be
checked during the charging process by pressing the aforementioned
button, and the power level will be signalled by the diodes according to
the aforementioned diode indication.
The cordless screwdriver cannot be started during the charging process
and it is only possible to turn on the flashlight by pressing the plastic
flashlight transparent, see Fig. 7.
3. When charging is finished (the time until the battery is fully charged is
4-5 hours, nevertheless the battery can be charged regardless of its power
level without lowering its capacity), first disconnect the charger from the
electrical power socket and then the charger connector from the cordless
screwdriver connector and not vice versa.
INSERTING/EXCHANGING A TOOL PIECE
•
ATTENTION
y Always pull the charger connector out of the cordless screwdriver before
inserting a tool piece.
y Insert a hexagonal 1/4" shank tool piece into the chuck according to the
procedure shown in Fig. 1.
CHANGING THE HANDLE POSITION
y The cordless screwdriver has the option to extend the body by rotating
To do this, press the button in Fig. 8, position 5 and rotate the handle to
a horizontal position or back to the „bent" position, see Fig. 2.

material into which a bolt is being screwed as a result of excessive torque,
e.g. when driving thin screws into soft materials, it is appropriate to gra-
dually set a higher torque in the range from 1 - 7 using the torque setting
ring, see Fig. 3. When the set torque is reached, the driver bit will stop
turning and the spindle inside the cordless screwdriver will start to „skip"
without turning. If the screw is not sufficiently screwed in or out under this
torque setting, it is necessary to increase it by the necessary amount. It is
appropriate to set the torque by means of a practical test on a sample of the
screwed material using the same material and screw as on the final job.

position. This will block the trigger, preventing it from being accidentally
pressed, and thereby prevent accidentally starting the cordless screwdriver.

of this unusual operation. If the unusual operation is caused by a fault inside
the tool, have it repaired at an authorised service centre for the Extol® brand

capable of driving the selected screw into the wood.

ATTENTION
against peak current draw arising on a battery that has been discharged
multiple times, and which damages it. This protection manifests its self by
the cordless screwdriver coming to a sudden stop even when the trigger
switch is pressed, when the battery has been discharged multiple times.
When the trigger switch is released and then pressed again, the cordless
screwdriver will start again after a certain time, but then it will stop running
again. This is not a battery fault, but rather electronic protection.
This protection does not apply to the LED flashlight in the handle because it
has a very low current draw.
When the flashlight is weak, we recommend charging the battery and not to
leave the flashlight lit until the battery is fully discharged.
is normal for an older or a frequently used battery to have a lower capacity,
i.e. it goes flat faster and needs to be charged more frequently, and the tools
performance declines.
