MAINTENANCE
•
A build-up of sawdust and other debris can
adversely affect the accuracy of the planer.
Regular cleaning is therefore necessary.
•
Use a brush to remove any dirt or grime
from the feed surfaces. Then apply a light
coating of oil to the surfaces and refit the
parts that have been removed.
•
Remove any resin from the feed rollers and
table using a non-flammable solvent.
LUBRICATION
IMPORTANT:
Lubricate sparingly. Never pour oil on the
chain.
•
Roller chains that operate at low to
medium speeds should be regularly wiped
clean with a cloth and lightly coated with
oil.
•
The cutterhead bearings are factory
lubricated and sealed and require no
further lubrication.
•
Excessive lubrication causes wood shavings
and other debris to collect more easily on
the chain, which means additional cleaning
is required and leads to more wear and
tear. This applies to both the cutterhead's
drive chain and the height adjustment
chain and screws.
