Additional information

7.1 Distance between MCA-ES and DMI-8
It is basically recommended to install the MCA-ES
and the DMI-8 in the same rack. This leads to
short cables (word clock via BNC, CONTROL BUS
and GN via patch cable) of a few meters connect-
ing the corresponding ports.
The distance between MCA-ES and DMI-8 should
not exceed 50 meters. Larger distances up to
100 meters should be overcome by Ethersound
network.
7.2 Synchronization
The MCA-ES automatically synchronizes itself
with highest priority to an Ethersound sound
network linked to the IN port. Running as primary
master the MCA-ES automatically synchronizes
itself to an external sync signal (word clock or
AES11). Otherwise the MCA-ES runs as source of
the word clock. In the fi rst both cases the inter-
nal word clock generator is synchronized to the
mentioned signals. The word clock generator is
always active and feed into the BNC output. Con-
necting the MCA-ES word clock output to the cor-
responding input of the cascaded DMI-8 is abso-
lutely necessary for their synchronization.
7.3 Audio data routing
The following routing of GN audio data into
the Ethersound network is implemented in the
MCA-ES:
