through sleeve, hook it up to the aileron horn and try aileron for proper function. When satisfied, put wing away and
build the other one over the other plan in the same manner.
Covering
Cover the entire model with silk, nylon or any other suitable woven material, as plastic film coverings with their ex-
tremely smooth and shining surfaces will never look like pre-WW II scale.
All components should be covered all around with exception of the rear edges of trailing edges. To prepare them for
covering, protect the transparent canopy with tape and then brush the outside of all components and all accessible
parts of the fuselage interior with three coats of sanding sealer, lightly sanding each coat when dry.
Cut the covering material for the various parts with about one inch oversize all around, soak each piece in water, re-
move surplus water between sheets of newsprint, lay it on damp, brush through it from the outside with thinners and rub
it down with fingertips or a piece of sponge material. Start covering the wings at the dihedral breaks and let the material
of inner and outer panels overlap about one inch to strengthen the break joints. On all other components start covering
at one end, pull the material towards the other end and brush and rub it on step by step.
When dry, brush all parts with clear dope, lightly sanding between coats, until the covering is tight and smooth. When
the last coat has been sanded, remove all dust with a tack cloth and then decorate your model with red and white lac-
quer and the transfers provided to the pattern of the Swiss original as shown on the kit box cover and the print supplied
with the kit.
Final Assembly
Install wheel 88 and tighten set screws of collars 91 carefully. Epoxy hinges 225 into wings, fin and stabilizer and let
cure. Smear epoxy into the hinge slots of ailerons, rudder and elevator, slide them in position, check for free movement
and then let cure also. Eventually epoxy all control horns in position.
Mount the tailplane onto the fin with bolt 131 and fix the wings to the fuselage with tongues 217 and 218, then tape all
control surfaces into neutral position. Cement clevises 228 to the ends of elevator and rudder pushrods 58 and 59, slide
all pushrods into their sleeves from outside and hook the clevises over the control horns.
Install all RC-equipment, screw four clevises over connectors 227 and hook them into servo disks or arms. Switch on
RC, neutralize all servos, cut the pushrods to length and cement them into the connectors. Free the control surfaces
from tape and check RC and controls for proper function.
Screw tow hook 95 into the pre-drilled hole and slide canopy in position. Fill lead shot into the ballast compartment be-
tween formers 6 and 7 until model balances in glide attitude when supported under the wings at the position marked
with a black and white circle - and then your Minimoa is ready for its maiden flight.
