Category 5e cable or above should be used.

5.4 Communication

Close unused ports with the supplied rubber covers. Special notes for SFP modules:
1. Make sure that the SFP module is correctly aligned when plugging in the SFP module.
2. Slide the SFP module into the slot until it snaps audibly.
3. Note that the locking bracket of the SFP module is closed.
4. Plug the fiber optic cable with the LC connector into the SFP module until it snaps
sudibly.
5. When removing the SFP module, first pull the fiber optic cable.
6. Open the locking bracket of the SFP module.
7. Pull out the SPF module on the locking bracket.

The LEDs (green/red), which are visible on the front, indicate the following states.
