Instructions for use, warnings and safety instructions for lithium batteries for motorcycles
1. INITIAL COMMISSIONING
General
- This lithium battery is activated at the factory and can be used immediately (if the voltage is sufficient).
- Charge the battery at a voltage below 12.8 volt (see Point 3).
Always follow the warnings and safety instructions.
1. Check vehicle
Check that the charging circuit of the vehicle is suitable for lithium batteries. To determine this, follow
the steps below:
- A. Start the vehicle.
- B. Attach a voltmeter to the electrical circuit. Attach the red cable to the positive terminal and the black
cable to the negative terminal.

TESTER
- C. Increase the vehicle's RPM so that it is between 2,000 and 5,000 RPM. Then check the voltage that
can be read from the voltmeter. The charging voltage is good when it is between 14.0 and 15.0 volts. If
the charging voltage is below 14.0 volts, the battery will not be fully charged. If the charging voltage is
above 15.0 volts, the battery will be overcharged. In both cases, this will cause irreparable damage to the
battery. If the charging voltage differs, the charging circuit of the vehicle must be repaired.
- D. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition. Connect a multi-tester (milliampere mode)
to the battery and the earth (negative cable). This checks the vehicle's power consumers. At your garage,
check what the normal power consumption is (leakage current) when the motorcycle is switched off. If
the measured value differs, the electrical circuit of the vehicle must be repaired.

your vehicle.
2.GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
- Starting power at temperatures below 0 °C is only available to a limited extent.
- The maximum operating temperature of the battery is 60 °C. Do not allow the battery to overheat during
use due to external factors.
- Check the battery voltage before use. Charge the battery if the voltage is less than 12.8 volts (see Point 3)
- Only fit this battery in the vehicle in the location designated by the manufacturer. Always ensure that the
battery is adequately ventilated. Follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions.
- Attach these instructions for use to the vehicle manual.
Instructions
Follow the instructions on the battery, in the instructions for use and in the vehicle manual. Add
these instructions for use to the vehicle manual.
Eye protection
Use eye protection when working on the battery
Children
• Keep children away from acid filled batteries.
•Keep children away when working on the battery.
Fire, flames and smoking are forbidden:
• Avoid creating sparks when handling cables and electrical devices and when there are electros-
tatic discharges.
• Avoid short circuits (e.g. by not placing any tools on the battery).
Explosion hazard:
• A highly explosive gas is created when batteries are charged.
• Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid flames
Risk of burns:
• Battery acid is highly corrosive and can cause severe burns and eye damage.
• Always wear protective gloves/clothing and eye protection.
• Battery acid can be corrosive to metals.
First aid:
• If acid fumes are inhaled: provide for fresh air. In case of irregular breathing or respiratory arrest,
seek medical dvice immediately and administer first aid. In case of respiratory irritation: consult
a physician.
• If acid splashes in the eye: remove contact lenses if possible. Immediately rinse with cleanwater
for at least 15minutes. Then consult a physician.
• If acid splashes on the skin or in the hair: immediately remove any contaminated clothing. Rinse
skin or hair with water or in the shower.
• If acid splashes on clothing: absorb spillage to prevent material damage. Immediately neutralise
with soda or soapy water and rinse thoroughly with water.
• If acid is swallowed: immediately rinse mouth and drink plenty of water. Do NOT induce vomit-
ing. If you feelunwell, call a POISON CENTRE or a physician.
Warning note:
• Do not expose the battery to direct daylight, as this may cause damage to the battery housing.
• A discharged battery may freeze. Therefore, do not expose it to temperatures below zero
Handing in an old battery:
• Return an old battery to an authorised body.
• During transport, observe the instructions in Point 2.3.
• Never dispose of old batteries as domestic waste!
2.1 Custom fitting
Some lithium batteries are smaller than the original battery. These lithium batteries come with foam
pads, which can be glued to each side of the battery to give it the same size as the original battery.

2.2 Fitting and removing a battery
If you are unsure about fitting or removing a battery, please contact a qualified workshop.
Assembling:
- Before starting work, switch off the engine and all electrically powered devices.
- Remove all objects from the location where the battery is to be placed.
- Avoid short circuits, for example by tools.
- First, clamp the positive terminal and then the negative terminal. Make sure the terminal connections
are securely fastened.
- Transfer other parts, such as the terminal cover, corner section and the terminal connection holder
(if any) over from the old battery.
Dismantling:
- Remove all objects from the location where the battery is to be removed.
- Always disconnect the negative terminal first and then the positive terminal.
2.3 Storage and transport
- Store a battery in a cool and dry place.
- Protect the battery from direct sunlight.
- Ensure an optimum lifetime during storage for a charge level between 50% and 70% (see Table 1).
- Protect the positive terminal from possible short circuits (tape it or put a terminal cap on it).
- Regularly check the charge level. Recharge if necessary (see Point 3).
2.4 Maintenance
- Keep the battery clean and dry.
- Only clean the terminals and the surface of the battery with a damp, anti-static cloth. Otherwise, there
is a risk of explosion.
- Tighten the clamps securely.
- A lithium battery does not require any maintenance. Therefore, do not open the battery.
- If the battery will not be used for an extended period of time (e.g. in winter), make sure that it is (trickle)
charged. Carefully remove the battery before charging.
3. CHARGING THE BATTERY
Important:
If you are unsure about charging a battery, have it recharged by a qualified workshop.
3.1 Charger
To charge the intAct lithium battery, use a charger with a motorcycle lithium program. A leadacid battery charg-
er can also be used to charge the intAct lithium battery. It must, however, comply with the following conditions:
Observe the charger manufacturer's instructions.
- The charging voltage of the charger must not exceed 15.0 volt.
- Do not use a charger with an automatic desulphation mode function.
- Charge the battery with a current lower than the maximum charging current, which can be found on the
charging label on the battery.
3.2 Charging the lithium battery
- Remove the battery from the vehicle (see Point 2.2).
- Only use a suitable charger (see Punt 3.1).
- Do not turn the charger on until the battery has been connected. After the battery has been fully charged, first,
turn off the charger. Only then should you remove the charger from the battery.
- When charging in enclosed areas, make sure there is good ventilation.
- Stop charging if the battery becomes too hot.
