INTRODUCTION
1.1
What is OSTEOBIT and how does it work?
OSTEOBIT is an electrical osteogenesis stimulator that uses electric fields and generates an alternating signal
at a frequency of approximately 60 KHz to power a specified-size pair of electrodes. The signal applied to the
electrodes circulates a low-intensity current on the treated site; this can produce an average density of up to
30 µA/cm2 on the tissue.
Such a current density at the specified frequency influences the activity of different metabolic components,
ultimately promoting the healing of bone tissue and painful symptoms. In order to apply the correct signal at
the site to be treated, IGEA provides electrodes of specified sizes, which guarantee the application of current
values within the therapeutic range. The application of the electrodes is simple and does not require medical
or nursing assistance, so the patient is able to apply the electrodes him/herself. The device is equipped with
simple and effective visual and acoustic alarms to signal to the patient any abnormalities or malfunctions that
may occur during treatment.
The light weight and small footprint, together with the battery power supply, make the system portable; the
patient can perform the treatment even while on the move, provided the pathology to be treated allows this.
CAUTION
OSTEOBIT is a therapeutic aid and must be used under a doctor's prescription.
1.2
Who can use OSTEOBIT
OSTEOBIT must be used by persons capable of understanding and independently implementing the instructions
