• Only use the unit for the specific purpose described in the instruction manual. Any misuse will void the warranty.
• The unit is not designed for commercial use.
• Keep the appliance away from children under 12 years of age. When using on children, they must be supervised by
an adult. Please observe the general safety instructions when using on children.
• Never immerse the thermometer in water or other liquids, it is not waterproof. For cleaning and care, please follow
the instructions in the corresponding chapter in this manual.
• The sensor must be cleaned after each use (see chapter „Cleaning and care").

• Contact your doctor if you notice symptoms such as unexplained irritability, vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, chang-
es in appetite or activity, seizures, muscle pain, chills, stiff neck, pain when urinating, etc. - even if there is no fever.
• Even people with normal body temperature (if no fever is detected) may need medical attention. For people taking
antibiotics, painkillers or antipyretics, the severity of the illness should not be judged by temperature alone.
• Elevated fever can be an indication of serious illness, especially in elderly, frail or immunocompromised adults and
in newborns and infants. Please seek professional advice immediately if an increase in temperature occurs when
the following groups of people are measured: - people over 60 years of age (fever may be attenuated or absent in
elderly patients), - people with diabetes mellitus or weakened immune system (e.g. HIV positive, cancer, chemo-
therapy, chronic steroid treatment, splenectomy), - bedridden (e.g. nursing home patient, stroke, chronic illness),
- transplant patients (e.g. transplants of liver, heart, lung, kidney).
• This thermometer is not suitable for premature or gestational age babies. This thermometer is not suitable for inter-
preting hypothermic temperatures. Do not leave children unattended to take their temperature.
• Do not use the thermometer on newborns or for continuous temperature monitoring.
• Do not take a reading during or immediately after breastfeeding a baby.
• Patients should not drink, eat or exercise before or during the measurement.
• The use of this thermometer is not a substitute for a consultation with your doctor or paediatrician.
• Do not take measurements in quick succession, always wait at least 10 seconds.
• The thermometer is not intended to diagnose or treat any health problem or disease. The measurement results are
for reference only, always consult your doctor.

Product description
The infrared thermometer measures body temperature based on the infrared energy emitted from the eardrum or fore-

head. After correctly positioning the temperature sensor in the ear canal or on the forehead, the user can quickly obtain
measurement results. Normal body temperature lies within a certain range. The following table shows that this normal
range also varies from measurement location to measurement location. Therefore, readings from different locations
should not be directly compared. Tell your doctor what type of thermometer you used to take your temperature and at
which body site. Keep this in mind even if you are self-diagnosing.

this (see fig. a). For older children and adults, the ear can be pulled slightly upwards and backwards
(see fig. b) to bring the ear canal into a straight course so that the sensor can take a temperature
reading at the eardrum.

acoustic signal and displays the measured value. Now carefully remove the thermometer from the
ear and release the ear again.
5.
Without further input, the unit switches off after approx. 13 seconds.
WARNING! Prevent injury or inaccurate measurement results:
• Remove earwax or blockages in the ear canal before taking a measurement.
• Never force the sensor into the ear canal.
• The measurement in the right ear may differ from the measurement in the left ear.
• Therefore, always measure the temperature in the same ear.
• Be especially careful with children because of their small ear canal.
• We recommend forehead measurement for children up to 12 years.

Classification of the measured temperature (T)
Ear or forehead measurement: Depending on the measured temperature, the display appears with different back-
lighting or different signal tones are emitted (not in silent mode), see the following list. In direct mode, a long tone
always sounds and the display is backlit in white.
32°C (89.6°F) ≤ T ≤ 37.5°C (99.5°F) : Illumination green, one long beep
37.6°C (99.7°F) ≤ T ≤ 38°C (100.4°F) : Illumination orange, 6 short beeps (slight fever).
38.1°C (100.6°F) ≤ T ≤ 42.9°C (109.2°F) : Illumination red, 6 short signal tones (high fever)
Switch signal tones on/off
You can switch the signal tones on or off. To do this, press and hold the button
is switched on. Depending on the currently set status, either the corresponding symbol
or the symbol disappears (signal tones on).
Set measuring unit
The measuring unit can be set to degrees Celsius (°C) or degrees Fahrenheit (°F). To change the unit, press and

6
for approx. 2 seconds when the unit is switched on.
Retrieving / deleting memory data
The measured temperatures are stored by the unit (max. 40 results). With the unit switched on, press and hold the
mode button
7
for approx. 5 seconds to call up the values in the memory. The last result measured is displayed first.
You can also view the values stored before by pressing the mode button
Important notes regarding the determination of body temperature
• It is important to know the normal temperature of each person when they are healthy. This is the only way to ac-
curately diagnose a fever. Take the temperature twice a day (early morning and late afternoon). Take the average
of the two temperatures to calculate the normal oral equivalent temperature. Always take the temperature in the
same place, as temperature readings may be different in different places.
• A child's normal temperature can vary between 36.1°C (97ºF) and 37.7°C (99.9°F). Please note that this device
reads 0.5ºC (0.9ºF) lower than a rectal digital thermometer.
• External factors can noticeably affect the temperature reading, such as: - prolonged lying on one ear, - covering
with hair, - prolonged exposure to high or low ambient temperatures, - bathing or swimming before taking a read-
ing. You should always relax for about 20 minutes before the measurement in a well-tempered, quiet environment
so as not to falsify the result. If you want to take an ear measurement and use medication (e.g. ear drops) in one
ear, use the other ear for the measurement.
• Always remove hair, sweat, dirt, etc. before taking a measurement and wait 10 minutes before taking the measure-
ment.
• In the following situations, it is recommended to take 3-5 measurements at the same site and take the highest
value as the reading: • In newborn children in the first 100 days, • In children under 3 years of age with a weakened
immune system where the presence or absence of fever is critical, • For first-time use, until the user has become
familiar with the device and is getting consistent readings.
Cleaning and care
Clean the sensor
at least 5 minutes before and after each use. You can use a cotton swab
2
moistened with 70% alcohol for this. After the alcohol has dried completely, you can take a

new measurement. After use, the housing should also be cleaned with a soft, dry or very
slightly damp cloth. Always make sure that no liquid gets inside the thermometer. Never use
abrasive cleaners, thinners or benzene for cleaning and do not immerse the device in water
or other cleaning liquids. Be careful not to scratch the surface of the LCD display.
Troubleshooting
Problem: The thermometer fails to power on.
Possible cause: Low batteries / wrong polarity / thermometer is damaged.
Solution: Exchange batteries and make sure, these are installed correctly.
Problem: "Er1" is displayed.
Possible cause: The ambient temperature is lower than 0°C (32°F) or higher than 40°C (104°F).
Solution: Take a measurement in the range of the operating conditions.

Solution: Repeat the measurement!
Problem: The temperature reading is lower than the typical body temperature range.
Possible cause: The lens of the temperature sensor is dirty / thermometer sensor is not aligned to eardrum / the ther-

Problem: The temperature reading is higher than the typical body temperature range.
Possible cause: The temperature sensor is damaged or you are coming from a hot environment.
Solution: Wait more than 30 minutes after bringing the unit into the measurement environment.
