INTRODUCTION
These instructions explain the correct usage of the equipment. Only certain
techniques and uses are described. User must always have a solid understanding
and working knowledge of work positioning/movement throughout the canopy
and the ability to judge safety risks.
Please review all warning symbols.
User is solely responsible for heeding all warnings and using the equipment
correctly.
1 \ FIELD OF APPLICATION

RC Grapple Hook: A specialized climbing aid to assist in movement throughout the
canopy. (Figure 1A)
Note: This product must ALWAYS be used in addition to a main climbing line. This
product is not intended for life safety purposes. Using it as such could result
in serious injury or death
RESPONSIBILITY \ WARNING
Activities involving the use of this equipment are inherently dangerous. The user
is solely responsible for their actions and decisions.
Before using this equipment, you must:
• Read and understand all instructions for use.
• Understand, accept, and assume all risks and responsibilities for all damage,
injury, or death that may result from use of this equipment.
• Obtain the necessary training from a qualified and competent instructor in its
proper use.
• Fully understand and accept its capabilities and limitations.
• The product is intended for normal use by medically fit, specifically trained,
competent and experienced users.
• You must have a rescue plan and means to rapidly implement it in case of
difficulties encountered while using this system.

3 \ INSPECTION POINTS TO VERIFY
Before Each Use (Figure 3A)
• Verify there are no cracks, wear, tears, or any defects that would inhibit
the product from performing its intended use
• Verify tether is secured to the Grapple Hook
• Verify the Grapple Hook is operational, opening and closing on its own
• Ensure the tether bolt is tight
Warranty \ Notch Equipment guarantees this product for lifetime against any
defects in materials or manufacture. The guarantee does not cover this product
from normal wear and tear, modification or alteration, incorrect use or storage,
poor maintenance, accidental damage, negligence, or any usage for which the
product was not designed.
4 \ PRECAUTION FOR USE
The following section outlines precautions that must be taken when using this
product. (Figure 4A-C)
This product is not PPE or for life safety and must not be used as such.
• User must always have a primary life line when using the grapple hook for any
application (figure 4A)
• User must ensure the Grapple Hook is secured beyond the point of falling out of
contact with the connection point in the tree before adding weight to the system.

• This product is only to be used as a climbing aid to assist in movement around the
canopy or from tree to tree. Once the optimal work position is achieved, always
install a work positioning system.

5 \ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Lifespan: Grapple Hook \ Product has an indefinite lifespan. The following may
greatly reduce the strength of the product and consequently the lifespan: Incorrect
use, mechanical deformation, general wear and tear, chemical and heat contami-
nation. (figure 5A)
Lifespan: Tether \ The shelf life of the tether in unused condition, stored properly in
an environment not exposed to sunlight or hazardous materials will be a maximum
of 10 years, with a maximum use life of 5 years. The actual working life of this prod-
uct should not exceed 5 years, if used, stored and cared for properly. The combined
storage and usage lifetime must never exceed 10 years. The following may greatly
reduce the strength of the product and consequently the lifespan: Incorrect use,
mechanical deformation, general wear and tear, chemical and heat contamination.

Cleaning \ If necessary, clean with fresh water and allow it to dry completely. After
cleaning, lubricate with a suitable lubricating oil. Cleaning and lubrication may cure
a defective mechanism, if it does not, replace the product immediately. (Figure
5B-C)
Repairs or modifications \ Do not repair or modify your product in any way unless
specified in this manual. (Figure 5E)
Retire equipment immediately if: Product fails inspection (before, during, or after
use), it was misused, altered, or damaged.
Storage \ Store unpacked in a cool, dry, dark environment away from excessive
heat or heat sources, high humidity, sharp edges, corrosives, or other possible
causes of damage. Do not store wet. (Figure 5D&F)
