Instructions for use
These instructions for use are general instructions for the product described and do not replace user training.
Intensive instruction and practice is essential for the use and maintenance of the product, and the user must be
physically and mentally fit. Inadequate training, incorrect use or misuse of the product can lead to accidents. The
instructions for use and the information and instructions contained therein must be carefully observed and
complied with.
Foreword
The strengths of Mittelmann Sicherheitstechnik and its application partners were brought together to develop the
ropeAID product. This allowed development expertise for special products to be combined with industry-specific
requirements and ideas from the wind energy sector.
During the development period, the product was tested in ongoing training operations with wind turbine
application partners and continuously developed further.

1. General application

The ropeAID is a rope winch and has been developed ONLY for the transport of ropes and may under no
conditions be used to transport persons. Furthermore, this product may only be used by persons who have
been instructed in its safe use and have the appropriate knowledge.
The ropeAID is a special auxiliary device that was developed exclusively to support the user in the recovery of
long rope lengths, e.g. after training or rescue operations.
The device is not equipped with a brake and is expressly PPE. It must therefore not be used
not authorised as
as an evacuation, rescue or access device.
The ropeAID may only be used for hauling in ropes and not for lifting other loads. The maximum permissible load
of 50 kg must not be exceeded.
The ropeAID is neither an abseiling rescue device nor a material load winch.
The ropeAID must be checked after each use and, if necessary, repaired by the manufacturer or by a person
authorized by the manufacturer who agrees to the device being used again.
The product may only be used within the specified operating conditions, only for the intended purpose and only
for rope transport purposes.
Locations of use are wind turbines, cranes, gondolas, lifts, buildings, towers and similar. The ropeAID may only
be used as a rope hoisting device and must never be used as an abseiling device, fall arrest system or for
lowering and lifting loads. The device must not be loaded beyond the specified load limits.
If necessary, the equipment is kept in a suitable storage container (e.g. bag, box, barrel) until the time of use,
which offers protection against external influences such as UV radiation, moisture, extreme temperatures,
chemical substances, corrosion and others.

2. User training

The operating personnel must be sufficiently familiar with the use of the rope access equipment before using it
for the first time. In addition, these instructions for use must be familiarized with and repeatedly trained during
the introduction.
