e) Strap dispenser
The strap dispenser holds the strap coil. Threading
is performed as shown on the threading plate on the
machine and the instructions in the manual.
e) Operating panel / electrical components
The operating panel contains all the operational ele-
ments, refer to chapter 5.3, Operating elements. The
electrical components are located in the lower rear
part of the machine. The electrical components are
easy accessible for maintenance work after removal
of two covers.

5.1 DESIGN

The machine consists of the following main assem-
blies (see Fig. 2):
a Sealing unit
b Machine frame
c Arch
d Strap magazine
e Strap dispenser
f Operating panel / electrical components

5.2 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

a) Sealing unit
The sealing unit consists primarily of two 230 V elec-
tric motors M23 and M24 which actuate the tension
unit and the sealing unit through drive belts.
The sealing unit is controlled by cams and tappets.
Three clamps for holding, cutting and heat-sealing the
strap are moved by the tappets. The heating element
is swivelled towards the straps by another cam, in
order to heat them. The fan serves to draw off the
smoke which is generated during the heat-sealing
process.
The tensioning unit driven by a switched M26 motor
serves to advance and retract the plastic strap. A ten-
sioning arm on the tensioning unit tensions the strap.
b) Machine frame
The machine frame is the mobile carrier for all other
sub-assemblies. The table tops and the service door
can be opened for maintenance work. If the service
door is opened, the entire drive circuit is disabled.
The dispenser for mounting the strap coil is fl anged
on the machine side. A plate showing the method of
threading the strap is also located on the machine
frame.
The operating panel (f) and the arch (c) are located on
top of machine frame.
c) Arch
The arch can be supplied in fi ve sizes and is the mo-
vable strap feed which is opened and closed by cams
after sealing. The strap is inserted into the closed arch
and retracted when the arch opens.
d) Strap magazine
The strap needed for the next strap application is held
in the strap magazine. The strap is fed by an 230 V
M29 electric motor. Strap that is retracted on retrac-
tion and tensioning also collects in the magazine.
The quantity of strap in the magazine depends on the
size of the package to be strapped. This is set by a
handwheel under the dispenser.
