Sanding stages
Three sanding stages are available:
Stage 1, coarse grinding: Suitable for grinding blunt knives or those where a sharp edge is to be ground
in.
Level 2, fine sharpening: Suitable for the constant care of used knives. Frequently used kitchen knives,
for example, should be fine-ground once a week. Fine grinding also removes the burrs and grinding
marks on the cutting edge after coarse grinding, making the cutting edge even smoother and sharper.
Stage 3, polishing function: Suitable for finishing the blade after fine grinding. Polishing can remove
particularly small burrs and grinding marks on the cutting edge, making the cutting edge even smoother.
We recommend polishing the cutting edge after each sharpening of the knife.
Important note: The polishing function is not suitable for ceramic knives.
Using the knife sharpener
1.
Before using the knife sharpener, check that the mains plug is connected to the power supply.
2.
Place the knife sharpener on a flat surface and switch on the mains switch. Hold the knife sharpe-
ner firmly with one hand and guide the knife with the other.
3.
Select the appropriate guide for sharpening depending on the degree of bluntness of the knife.
4.
Always work on the knife sharpener in the guides from left to right and sharpen both sides of the
blade. First in the left-hand guide, then in the right-hand guide.
5.
Make sure that the blade to be sharpened is clean. After inserting the blade, immediately pull it
through the guide evenly from the shaft to the tip without applying strong pressure. Always keep
the blade level at all times. Never push the blade forwards.
6.
Always start with a grinding process first and then move on to polishing.
7.
Switch off the appliance after use and disconnect the plug.
8.
After grinding, wipe the knife with a damp cloth or rinse the knife. Then dry the knife thoroughly.
9.
We recommend oiling the blade with e.g. a little cooking oil, especially with high-quality knives.
10. Clean the magnetic collection flap for the collected shavings from time to time.
Maintenance
Use a brush or running water to clean the magnetic chip collection flap, which is created during each
sanding process, from time to time.
Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft, slightly damp cloth if necessary. Do not use abrasive
cleaning agents or harsh chemicals. Do not use any metallic cleaning objects.
