2 Care and Maintenance of the Compressor/Grinder
Proper maintenance of the compressor/grinder should include cleaning it out
occasionally and changing the blade as necessary. Also, it is very important that you
lubricate the compressor thread using gear oil after every 60 samples.

Refer to the sequence of photographs above and complete the following steps to clean
out the compressor/grinder or to change the blade:
1. Ensure the compressor piston is at the top of its travel.
2. Turn the yellow locking ring clockwise and pull the unit apart.
3. Open the two blade retaining wings so that they just clear the blade and lift out the
blade.
4. Clean the area around the blade and grinding veins thoroughly.
5. Insert the new blade, matching up the pip and grove.
6. Close the blade retaining wings and replace the top half of the Compressor/
Grinder. Make sure that you line up the thread square with the insert, then rotate
the body until the locating lugs line up. Press the parts together.
7. Turn the locking ring counterclockwise to lock both halves together. The unit is
now ready to use.
