Scanning Barcodes
7.0 Scanning Barcodes using the
0701/0702 PC-Multitester
Before using the barcode scanner for the first
time or if you use a different test instrument,
please always configure the barcode scanner
for the respective test instrument. (Please refer
to chapter 6).
Connect the power supply unit (9) to an opera-
tional socket.
Connect the power supply unit output to the
power supply socket (5) of the barcode scanner.
An acoustic signal is audible; the barcode scan-
ner is ready for operation.
Connect the 9 pole connection adapter (8) to the
RS232 interface of the 0701/0702 PC-Multite-
ster and tighten the screws.
Connect the barcode scanner with the 9-pole
connection socket (6) to the connection adap-
ter (8).
Start a new test with the 0701/0702 PC-Multite-
ster, as described in the instruction manual of
the test instrument. If the menu controlled pro-
gram of the test instrument requests the entry
of the UUT number, the test code, or the user
code, a barcode scan can be performed. This
means, if one of the following texts is displayed
on the LCD:

Press the "Scan" key (3) at the barcode scanner
and keep it depressed.
For barcode scanning, point the barcode scan-
ner directly onto the barcode to be scanned or
approach the barcode scanner to the barcode
until an acoustic signal is audible.
The barcode scanner signalises the scanning
of a barcode by emitting an acoustic confirma-
tion sound. The control display (2) briefly lights
at the same time.
The direction of barcode scanning is not im-
portant. However, it is of utmost importance
that the barcode is completely scanned, from
the start to the end. .
The scanned barcode is displayed on the LCD
of the 0701/0702 PC- Multitester and can be
accepted pressing the "YES" key at the test in-
strument.
If you wish to correct the scanned barcode, in
case the barcode reading has been incorrect or
incomplete, or if the entry has not been correc-
tly accepted due to the fact that the test instru-
ment was not ready for entry, please proceed
as follows:
If not yet done, prepare the 0701/0702 PC-Mul-
titester for the scanning. Then, subsequently
press the "#" and "NO" keys at the test instru-
ment and read again the barcode.
Please also refer to the 0701/0702 PC-Multitester
operation manual.
If you wish to scan barcodes exceeding a length
of 10 characters, all characters are read and
transferred. However, the scanning routine of
0701/0702-Multitester plus only accepts the
last 10 characters and shows these as UUT
number.
