resin glue. Install the tail rotor gear box as
described in the Piccolo
Instructions, pages 18 and 19.
There is the possibility that the tail plane at the
tail motor has to be done over again.
Cut out for roll
servo pushrods
-10 -10b / 10c-
Cut out the recess
for the nose wheel
at the canopy.
Glue the two
polystyrene
pieces into place
as shown, as well
as the two
canopy locks. Put
on the canopy and
control the seat.
If necessarily,
work again on the
fuselage, to give
the roll servo
linkage sufficient
space for
movement. When
the canopy is
on,make sure that
the locks snap on
to the mechanics
holders.
Modify the tail
rotor housing as
shown. Cut out
the tail as
shown and slide
the tail motor
wires into the
opening created.
Put the
housing into the
recess at the tail.
Align the rear
drive system to
the
vertical and
longitudinal axis
and glue it
together with very
little epoxy
Glue one of the
three thin carbon
fiber struts with
adhesive film
to the vertical
stabilizer fin as
shown and glue
the unit into place.
Push the two remaining carbon fiber struts for
the horizontal tail plane
at the markings through the fuselage and fasten
the two tail planes with
adhesive tape. Now glue on the tail plane fins
as shown.Attention: Secure the horizontal tail
planes only with adhesive tape, as they should
remain detachable.
Now you can apply decals and ID numbers to
the fuselage or paint the fuselage to your own
desire. Paint with water soluble colors only, as
they do not attack the material (for safety
reasons try out on a piece of scrap material). An
airbrush paint job is ideal, since it is laid on very
thinly and thus is very light. When doing a
lacquer finish you should definitely pay
attention to the weight.
Attention: Use only easy-sticking masking
tape, since otherwise the surface could be
damaged when peeling off the tape (also well
suitable are self sticking removable note
sheets). Finally the window glazing is being
applied. Cut out the glazing and smoothen the
edges with sandpaper. Cover the 1 to 2 mm
overlap at the window openings on the fuselage
with some UHU Por and press on the window
glazing from the outside without delay.Insert the
mechanics, and with a pointed object, drill a
hole into the fuselage bottom and run the
antenna aerial through. Place the battery into
the fuselage, attach the canopy, and balance
the model (as described in the Piccolo
Instructions, page 24) by shifting of the
batteries. Mark the position of the batteries and
affix them with the included hook and loop strip.
Secure the rotor blades for transport with the
included rotor blade holder and the rubber
band.Attention: When flying, always put on the
canopy, since this secures the mechanics
additionally.
Flying
Unfortunately, in hovering the horizontal
stabilizer affects the flight
characteristics negatively. The Piccolo becomes
jerkier at the pitch axis.
Therefore it is advisable to remove the
horizontal stabilizer before flying:
carefully pull the unit apart, so that the carbon
fiber struts on the one side
come off the adhesive tape. Then remove the
entire unit.
