Trouble-shooting Guide
The following guide lists various problems which do not require professional servicing.
If, however, the problem is not corrected by
using this
guide, contact your Onkyo dealer for assistance.

Hoarse sound, balance unstable.
@ Playback head dirty.

Excessive noise and tape hiss.

Distorted sound
e Distortion in tape.
@ Tape is probably bad but confirm by listening to
another one.
Recordings are distorted.
Tape squeal and skipping.
Excessive hum during playback.
High frequency sounds strong.

@ Recording is done at too high level.
® Dirty head, pinch roller or capstan
shaft.
© Cassette shell is binding tape or the
tape is stretched.
@ Connecting cords not inserted firmly.
e@ External flux leakage from nearby.
e@ Dolby encoded tape played back
with NR buttons set to incorrect
positions.
@ Readjust input recording level control according
to the directions on page 5.
