Erasing
and
record
safety
device
5.1
Every
new
recording
automatically
erases
existing
material
on both stereo tracks. Should you wish to erase without making
a new
recording,
set the level control (14) to zero
and run the
tape through
as described
in 4.1, 4.2 and 4.5.
5.2
In order to prevent
well-loved
recordings
from
being
inad-
vertently
erased,
the
small
plastic
knockout
at the
left-hand
rear
edge
of
the
cassette
(looking
downwards
upon
the
cassette
in the
playing
position)
may
be
pushed
out
with
a
screwdriver
or
similar
implement.
There
is a
spring-loaded
probe
in the
left-hand
corner
of the
cassette
compartment,
which
projects
into the gap
thus
made
and
blocks
the action
of the record
button, thus preventing
erasure. Should
you wish
to use that side of the cassette
for
a new
recording
at a later
date, this gap can
be covered
with a small
piece of adhesive
tape.
6.
Maintenance
To
obtain
optimum
performance
from
your
CD
400,
it is ad-
visable
to clean
the
particles
of dirt adhering
to heads
and
capstan
after every
15 to 20 hours
of operation.
6.1
Head
cleaning:
After removing
the cassette,
depress
the start
button
(7); the record/playback
and erasing
heads
are protud-
ing.
Now
press
down
the
loading
tray for the
compact
cas-
sette in the cassette
compartment
(3) to expose
the magnetic
heads, which
can
then be cleaned
with a soft, lint-free cloth
slightly
moistened
with
alcohol.
Do
not use
any
solvent
than
alcohol
or special
commercial
tape head
cleaners.

Effacemeni
et blocage
d'effacement
5.1
Lors
d'un
nouvel
enregistrement,
l'enregistrement
pre&c&dent
sur
les
pistes
ster&os
est
automatiquement
efface.
Si
l'on
souhaite
effacer
un
enregistrement,
mais
sans
nouvel
enre-
gistrement,
mettre
le regulateur
d'enregistrement
sur zero
et
laisser
passer
la bande
comme
decrit sous
4.1, 4.2 et 4.5.
5.2
Pour
&viter
l'effacement
accidentel
d'un
enregistrement
pre-
cieux,
il suffit de briser
—
au
moyen
d'un tourne-vis
ou
d'un
outil equivalent — la petite languette sur la face arriere gauche
de
la cassette.
Un
palpeur,
localise
dans
le coin
gauche
du
logement des cassettes,
cherche ce trou et — le cas &cheant
—
bloque la touche d'enregistrement, empä&chant ainsi tout efface-
ment.
Si
l'on
souhaite
enregistrer
ulterieurement
sur
cette
face,
masquer
l'ouverture au moyen d'un morceau
de ruban adhesif.
6.
Entretien
Afin de maintenir
le CD 400 en parfait etat
de fonctionnement,
il convient de nettoyer les tötes sonores et l'axe d'entrainement
toutes 15 ä 20 heures
d'utilisation.

Nettoyage
des
t&etes sonores:
apres
avoir
enleve
la cassette,
appuyer
sur
la touche
de
start
(7); la töte
d'enregistrement
ainsi que la t&te d'effacement apparaissent.
Cela &tant, rebattez
le couvercle dans l'interieur du logement (3), ce qui libere les
tötes.
Elles peuvent alors &tre nettoy&es au moyen
d'un chiffon
doux, ne peluchant pas, peu imbibe d'alcool. Eviter l'utilisation
d'autres
solvants;
seul
l'alcool
ou
les
liquides
speciaux
de
nettoyage des t&tes du commerce
sont ä employer.
