INFLATING THE BUOYANCY AID
5.1 INFLATING WITH THE MANUAL INFLATION DEVICE SECUMATIC S31:
The inflation process is released by pulling the pull-cord firmly.
5.2 INFLATING BY THE ORAL VALVE (AIR TIGHTNESS CHECK)/ REFILLING AIR:
Open the bag manually and inflate the buoyancy chamber via the mouth valve. To do so,
pull the dust cap off the mouth valve. When refilling air via the mouth valve, avoid breathing
in CO
gas from the buoyancy chamber (non-toxic, but may cause coughing or dizziness).

HANDLING AFTER USE/MAKING BUOYANCY AID READY FOR USE AGAIN
6.1 CLEANING THE BUOYANCY AID.
Hang open buoyancy aids that have become moist or wet on a clothes hanger and leave
to dry. Do not dry on a radiator! Remove oil and grease immediately. Clean using a stan-
dard commercial gentle washing detergent or mild soapsuds. Always rinse with clear water.
Note the care information on the buoyancy aid.
Do not use any alcoholic or solvent-containing cleaning agents!
6.2 RELEASING AIR VIA THE ORAL VALVE
To release the air, remove dust protection cap of oral valve. Press down the valve with the
nose of the dust cap (never use pointed objects). Press out the air to empty the buoyancy
chamber completely. After emptying the buoyancy chamber, reinstall the dust cap (see
Figure 3).
There is a yellow cap fastened inside the bag. This can be placed on the oral valve to
leave both hands free to deflate the buoyancy chamber (see Figure 4). Replace the black
dust cap on the oral valve after deflation.
WARNING
!
This cap has to be removed again after emptying the buoyancy chamber of air.
The buoyancy chamber is otherwise not airtight.

MAKING INFLATION DEVICE READY AGAIN
After each use involving the inflation of the buoyancy aid, the inflation device must be made
ready for use again. To do so, you will need an original SECUMAR replacement pack (see
Figure 5).
- Unscrew empty cartridge from inflation device and dispose of it.
- Fold manual release lever into case and secure with new pin.
- Screw in a new, full CO
(in g weight) is imprinted on the buoyancy chamber.
- The indicator must be green after the inflation device has been made ready again.
8
PACKING THE BUOYANCY AID
- Release all air from the buoyancy chamber (see Chapter 6).
- Close the oral valve with the dust cap.
- Fold the buoyancy aid together in accordance with the marking on the buoyancy cham-
ber and stow away in the bag. Insert the belt handle in the Velcro fastener and close the
Velcro fastener carefully.
- The straps must not be twisted or knotted.
9
STORAGE
Before storage, the buoyancy aid must be fully dry. For this reason, open the bag to allow
the buoyancy aid to dry on the inside, too. Protect your buoyancy aid from prolonged
exposure to the sun.
10
MAINTENANCE/SERVICE LIFE
Have your buoyancy aid serviced by the SECUMAR SERVICE regularly. The buoyancy aid
must be serviced by the date shown on the buoyancy chamber.
The service can only be carried out with buoyancy aids which have not yet exceeded their
maximum service life. The service life is generally 10 years.
In certain conditions of use (e.g. long cruises, cruises to other climatic zones, or frequent we-
aring by children) the buoyancy aid must be serviced more frequently. Children's buoyancy
aids must be checked by the responsible person (parent or trainer) with particular care due
to the special usage conditions. Ask the manufacturer for special instructions.
