2. General

The FAZ 3000-PIR transmitter is a basic component of the FAZ 3000 system. It has
the following functions:
· Registration of infrared radiation (heat) from moving people and warm-blooded
animals.
· Adjustable sensor characteristic (to 10 m, 90°)
· Creep-under protection
· Wall and corner mounting
· Run test function
· Sabotage switch

3. Installation

3.1 General information on installation

· The recording lens of the FAZ 3000-PIR has three
recording levels with 11 (upper), 8 (centre) and 5
(lower) segments. This permits a range of up to 10 m
with an opening angle of 90°. Figure 1 shows the
detection area.
· The detection area can be adjusted for the conditions
at each location by height variations in the PCB in-
side the housing. More detailed information can be
found in the operating instructions of the base station
in "10.6 Run test".
· For additional security the FAZ 3000-PIR is fitted with
"creep-under protection" so that an intruder cannot
move below the detection area of the main lens. This
is an additional lens with an integrated "beam" an-
gled downwards at 30°.
· In order to avoid false alarms caused by household pets, keep them out of the
protected area as much as possible. If this is not possible then use the height
variation to adjust the detection accordingly. Cover the creep-under protection
from the inside using black insulation tape for example. Remember that house-
hold pets also jump onto furniture and can therefore penetrate into the detection
area.
· Select a suitable installation location at a height of approx. 1.8 to 2 m.
· The PIR transmitter must not be subject to direct sunlight, car headlights, etc., or
installed in the vicinity of a heat source (e.g. over a radiator). The detection areas
should be aligned against a wall or on the floor, but not directly at a window,
heating or other source of heat.
· Detection performance depends on the temperature difference between the mov-
ing object and the respective background.
· Detection through glass is not possible.
· Ensure that the FAZ 3000-PIR is not installed directly in the vicinity of large metal
objects (heating, aluminium laminated walls, etc.) as they can affect the radio
range.
