Putting into service
Line power supply/battery operation
Line power supply
The receiver was prepared in the factory for ope
ration at 200 — 240 V/50 — 60 Hz. The unit can
be converted for operation at 110 — 135 V/50 —
60 Hz by resoldering one wire connection.
Important: This conversion should only be
performed by specialist personnel!
Battery operation
Instead of line power, the receiver can also be
supplied by external direct voltage sources.
Technical specifications:
Required operating
voltage:
11 to 18 V
Max. current
consumption:
140 mA
Required plug
connection:
NV plug with 2.1 mm
0 pin
(e. g. Hirschmann
Kns 50)
1. Check that transmission and reception fre¬
quencies correspond.
2. Switch on transmitter.
3. Switch on receiver (switch CD).
4. Step through the transmission range and
observe the RF display 4: red = no reception; yel¬
low = weak reception; green = good reception. If
the yellow LED lights frequently, adjust the recei
ver position or use detached antennas (see
section concerning "Connecting and setting up
detached antennas").
Adjusting the AF output voltage
1. Speak into transmitter microphone.
2. Using the transmitter sensitivity control, adjust
the modulation until the three green LEDs of the
modulation display flight up at volume peaks.
Occasional lighting of the red LED (peak dis¬
play) signals that the transmitter modulation
limit has been reached. If the red LED lights
frequently, the transmitter modulation is set
too high.
3. Using adjuster knob ®, adjust the AF output
level so that the connected amplifier can be
modulated optimally. The adjustment range is
3 mV — 3 V with reference to the rated swing.
Adjusting the squelch
The EM 1005-90 is equipped with an electronic
squelch which mutes the AF output if it falls below
an adjustable response threshold equal to the RF
input voltage.
Adjustment
1. Turn control ® to position 2-3.
2. Switch off transmitter. If noise or interference
can be heard turn control <D dockwise until the
interference disappears (modulation display
@ goes out).
Important:
Increasing the response threshold
to values above position 4 should be avoided
since if the response threshold is set too high, the
squelch will also respond to field-strength varia¬
tions during normal operation (with transmitter
switched on) and interrupt transmission.
