Have a map and a compass
ready.
Check the direction of the compass
and align the map right in the direction.
Find out two LW or MW stations ('A' and 'B') on the map whose locations are aiready
known, and mark at the points.
Seat the Gyro-antenna@®
in its original position.
Tune in station A.
Slowly rotate the receiver over the map until the needle of the Tuning meter fluctu-
ates extremely right; the reception is poorest. (See Fig. 10.)
if the signal is too strong to read needle-deflection, set the AFC/DX-Local switch®
to the ''LOCAL"' position.
;
Draw a subsidiary line on the map along the front edge of the receiver and then doa
main line parallel to it through station 'A'.
In the same
way, draw another main line through station 'B' on the map.
The point of intersection of two main lines is your location on the map. (See Fig. 11.)
Rotating the Gyro-antenna,
reading the angle measure
fixed to the antenna
and
using a protractor, you can also find your position without moving the set itself.

be done in case human
life is affected, such as in mountain climbing.
«x Depending
on the broadcasting
station,
the transmitting
antenna
may
be
located in an area distant from the actual station; the transmitting antenna
would be taken as the base point.
* The signal path may be distorted depending on geographic conditions such
as mountains,
building and other obstacles.
«x Make
sure to separate
the receiver
and the compass
as far as feasible.
If they are too close, the compass needle will be affected by the magnet of the
speaker in the set, and it will be difficult to obtain correct orientation.
