Das RSM
191
1st ein Studio-Kondensatormikro-
phon mit hoher Richtwirkung fur die stereophone
Aufnahmetechnik.
Es besteht aus dem Kapselkopf mit zwei getrenn-
ten Kapselsystemen und einem Verstarkerteil, der
zwei voneinander unabhangige transformatorlose
Mikrophonverstarker enthalt.
Das Mittensignal wird durch ein Richtrohrsystem
gebildet.
Die hohe Richtwirkung verdankt es seiner besonde-
ren akustischen Arbeitsweise:
Die Mikrophonkapsel befindet sich in einem aku-
stisch offenen, aber mit einem hohen Stromungs-
widerstand belegten Gehauserohr. Daraus
resultiert eine hohe Membranantriebskraft bei
kleinem Druckgradientencharakter der Kapsel und
das Mikrophon blendet (Stor-)Schall auRerhalb
seiner „Blickrrchtung" wesentlich starkeraus, als es
mit Mikrophonen ohne ein solches Interferenzrohr
moglich ist.
Das Mittensystem vereinigt die hohe Dampfung fur
seitliche Schallanteile (ahnlich der der Hyperniere,
ca. 10 dB) mit dem groGen Vor-/Ruckverhaitnis der
Superniere, indem esvon hinten einfallendenSchall
ebenfalfs urn ca. 10 dB dampft. Daruber hinaus

ip das Mikrophon unempfindli-
cher gegen Wind- und Poppstorungen als normale
Richtmikrophone.
Das Seitensignal wird durch eine querliegende Acht
gebildet. Zwei entgegengesetzt gerichtete Einzel-
kapseln sind dicht hinter der Richtrohrkapsel ange-
ordnet.
Die Richtungspfeile auf dem Mikrophonrohr dienen
als Orientierungshilfe.
Da zum Erreichen der genannten Mikrophoneigen-
schaften keine im Obertragungsbereich liegenden
Resonanzwirkungen ausgenutzt werden, ist das
Impulsverhalten des Mikrophons ausgezeichnet,
und es vermag alle Ausgleichsvorgange in Musik
und Sprache unverfalscht zu iibertragen.
Der Gesamtinnenaufbau ist zur Reduzierung von
Korperschall ubertragung und Griffgerauschen vom
AuBengehause entkoppelt.
2.1 Einsatzgebiete
Das RSM 191-System eignet sich besonders fur:
• stereophone Reportagen im Freien, auch in stark
gerauscherfullter Umgebung.
• stereophone Tonaufnahme bei Film und Fern-
sehen, bei der die Schauspieler mittenkonzen-
triert, Szenengerausche Oder ein Orchester

The RSM 191 Condenser Shotgun
Stereo Microphone
The RSM 191 is a studio condenser microphone
with a high directivity index for stereophonic sound
applications.
It consists of a capsule head containing two separ¬
ate capsule systems and an amplifier section
housing two independent transformerless micro¬
phone amplifiers. The middle signal is formed by an
interference tube system.
Its high directional efficiency is the outcome of its
special acoustic mode of operation:
The microphone capsule is located in an acousti¬
cally open but highly flow-resistant housing tube.
This results in a high diaphragm driving force for a
low pressure gradient curve of the capsule, and the
microphone fades out (spurious) noise outside its
'field of view' to a much greater extent than a micro¬
phone without an interference tube of this kind is
able to do.
The middle system combines the high attenuation of
side sound components (similarly to the hypercar-
dioid, approx. 10 dB) with the high front-to-back
ratio of the super-cardioid by attenuating sound ar¬
riving from the rear likewise by some 10 dB, in addi¬
tion this principle renders the microphone less
sensitive to wind noises and pops compared with
other directional microphones.
The side signal is constituted by a transverse

The arrows engraved on the microphone tube serve
to aid orientation.
Since no resonance effects anywhere in the frequen¬
cy range are exploited to obtain the said micro¬
phone characteristics, the transient response of the
microphone is excellent, and it will reproduce all
transient phenomena in music and speech without
any discoloration.
The entire internal structure is elastically decoupled
from the outer casing to reduce structure-born and
handling noises.
2.1 Applications
Some of the important applications of the RSM 191
are:
• Stereophonic news gathering (ENG) out-doors. It
is the ideal microphone for environments with
high ambient noise levels.
• Stereo recordings for TV and motion picture,
which must focus performers much more in the
