NOTICE: Prior to the lifting procedure, make
sure that the load is freely movable and not
anchored or otherwise fastened.
NOTICE: It is important to know the weight
of the load to be lifted. If it is not specified,
information can be taken from the freight
documents, manuals, plans etc. In case no
information is available, the mass must be
estimated by calculation, if possible.
ACHTUNG: When attaching the lever hoist,
make certain that hands and other parts of
the body are kept away from the chain in
order to prevent injuries.
Lift the load only slightly to check whether
it is securely fastened and remains in the
intended position.
CAUTION: Prepare the place where the load
should be set down. It is important to have
sufficient access and free space around the
area where the load should be set down. No
one is allowed to stay in the area.
CAUTION: Set the load down carefully. Do
not jam the chain sling under the load, sin
ce this could damage the chain sling. This
is particularly important when there are
multiple loose parts in the basket hitch
or choker hitch.
CAUTION: Check the brake for icing at
temperatures below 0 °C.
8. Protective measures
for the user to take
DANGER: Wear gloves when attaching and during the
lifting procedure.

9. Residual risks

DANGER: Residual risks arise primarily
from disregarding this operating manual.
Therefore it is absolutely necessary that
only trained personnel evaluate and perform
lifting procedures. Overloading due to disre
garding the maximum load capacity, due
to the influence of temperature and due to
shock loads can lead to the failure of the
lever hoist, as can the use of incorrect
spare parts, strong vibrations under high
loads or the use of knotted load chains.
This can lead to failure of the lever hoist
and cause the load to fall down, which
entails direct or indirect danger to the life,
limb or health of the persons who are in
the danger zone of lifting devices.
10. Procedures for accidents/
malfunctions
DANGER: After an accident or an excep
tional event – e. g. accidents, overheating,
overloading, collision, exposure to acids
or chemicals – the chain sling should be
decommissioned. Make sure that no dama
ge to the load or personal injuries can be
caused by removal of the lever hoist, e. g.
because the load was set down in an un
stable manner and could fall over. If neces
sary, attach an additional chain sling before
removing. After that, remove the chain and
give it to a qualified person for examination.

11. Spare parts

Spare parts may only be exchanged by qualified per
sons with the necessary knowledge and skills. Only
PFEIFER spare parts may be used. Only use new bolts,
adapter sleeves and other safety elements. If you have
any questions, please consult PFEIFER Mobile Services
or have the repair done by one of the specialists from
PFEIFER.
