3 Applications

The audio player EPS110/ RS485 is designed for permanently installed
PA systems and is suitable for a wide range of applications (repro-
duction of music and control of announcements) . It offers extensive
functions for reproducing audio files in WAV and MP3 format from a
memory card . The audio player is triggered by events, such as control
signals at the seven switching inputs or user-defined control commands
via the RS-485 interface . The control program also allows action delay
of up to 60 seconds . In response to events, strings that can be defined
as desired can be sent via the RS-485 interface in addition to the
reproduction functions .
The device is programmed via an XML file located on the memory
card . This file can be easily created using the PC software "Monacor
Infotainment Configurator" .

4 Installation

4.1 Mounting

The housing is designed as a top hat DIN rail module for quick instal-
lation in an electrical enclosure or distribution board .

Use the clips on the back of the housing to fix the module on a top
hat DIN rail

4.2 Electrical Connection

The connection is made via three plug-in terminal blocks (1 – 3),
each with 8 push-in spring terminals . These terminals are suitable
for connecting finely stranded conductors or solid conductors with
a cross-section of 0 .2 to 1 .5 mm² . The terminal blocks are keyed to
avoid confusion .

4.2.1 Audio outputs

Use terminal block X3 (3) to connect the audio outputs of EPS110/ RS485
to the audio inputs of the device that follows (e .g . an amplifier EPS32) .
Contacts 19 – 21 provide the signal of the left stereo channel; con-
tacts 22 – 24 provide the signal of the right stereo channel . The audio
outputs are balanced .
For connection to unbalanced signal inputs, only use the terminals +
and ⏚. The audio outputs can also be used to directly connect head-
phones (impedance ≥16 Ω) .
CAUTION
Always ensure that the volume is not too high,
especially when using headphones . Permanent high
volumes may damage your hearing!

4.2.2 Switching inputs

Terminal block X2 (2) provides 7 switching inputs for controlling
EPS110/ RS485 . These inputs can be used, for example, to connect
pushbuttons that will connect the corresponding input to the reference
voltage at contact 16 .
