Candle the eggs in a dark room by lighting the egg from the
round side, using a candling device for hatching eggs or a very
bright light.
When candling a fertile egg, you will notice a dark spot with
blood vessels, like a small, spider-shaped object. An unfertile
egg is bright and only the yolk is visible. Sort out unfertile eggs
and distribute the remaining eggs over the entire surface.
With the candling light you can additionally see the air bubble
inside the eggs. If the air bubble is large, humidity must be increased. If you test
the humidity with a hygrometer, use a hygrometer that is specially designed for
breeding machines.

Hatching

If breeding procedure runs normally, you can wait for the day of hatch. Adjust
the temperature and humidity.
Three days before the expected hatch time, remove the frame with the
turning pipes. Carefully place the eggs on the iron net. By doing this, the
fledglings will not hurt themselves while hatching. After opening the lid and
replacing the eggs, the temperature will most likely decrease.
During this time, set the temperature to approx. 37°C and increase the
oxygen uptake by opening the lid for short time. Turning the eggs and adding
water is not necessary during the last three days.
To provide enough moisture inside the breeding machine, leave the lid
closed. Do not open the breeding machine needlessly and wait until the very
last baby chick has released from its shell. Hatching can last from 10 – 24
hours. Do not forget to ventilate the breeding machine. Leave the baby chicks
in the breeding machine for further 24 hours. The baby chicks will pick up
adequate nutrition from the shells.

Additional Treatment after Hatching

After the baby chicks have hatched, relocate them to a preheated room or
cage. As heat source you can use e. g. an infrared ray lamp. The temperature
in the room should be 35 – 36°C. Please note, if the room is too cold, the
chicks will huddle together but, if a spot is too warm, the chicks will move
away from the heat source.
After the 24 hours in the breeding machine, it is necessary to feed the chicks
with water and chicken feed. Use a suitable trough to provide water and put it
up. By doing this the water will not become soiled permanently. Feed the
