Prior to use the breeding machine for hatching poultry eggs, please note the
following essential basic conditions:
Successful hatching, however, is a biological process and depends on
countless reasons. In most cases poor hatching resp. lack of success is not
because of the breeding machine but it depends on the eggs, if fertile or not.
Therefore it is very difficult to find out the causes from a distance and give
appropriate advices.
Suitable fertilized eggs must be at least 24 hours and max. 5 days old after
they were laid. When using fertilized eggs older than 5 days, there is a risk
that they will die during the most diverse phases of development.
When collecting hatching eggs, make sure the basket and your hands are
clean. Make sure the eggs are free from frost damage.
Only use high quality eggs, produced by healthy hens that are sexually
mature and well-nourished. Do not use hatching eggs from hens, fed with
fattening feed but use eggs from a hen coop with healthy animals, which are
not too young and not too old. The hen coop should also contain sufficient
numbers of male animals in order to be sure to obtain as many hatching eggs
as possible.
Avoid crossbreeding with consanguineous animals, as this may lead to weak
or dead embryos.
If you have to store the eggs for some time after laying date, make sure the
room temperature for storing is between 12 – 15°C and does not exceed
18°C. The relative humidity should be between 60 and 65°. Storing the eggs
in a room that is too warm will lead to high evaporation of water in the egg.
During storage time, the eggs have to be turned over several times a day, at
least 3 times a day. This will prevent the egg yolk and the germinal disc to
become stuck. Mark the eggs with a pencil and carefully turn over at least a
half turn.
To achieve best possible result, only use fertile eggs with same size and
poultry type.
Do not use too large or too small eggs. Also do not use pointed eggs or
extremely round eggs because such eggs lead to feeble chicks.
The hatching eggs must be clean. But please do not wash the eggs with
water. By doing this, the cuticle may be destroyed. The cuticle seals the
porous lime shell and prevents the eggs from penetration of bacteria.
Do not use eggs with rough shell. Too much lime on the shell impacts uniform
development of the embryo and might lead to its death.
