Modes

Two modes are available on the ACS 400/450
for service on a vehicle A/C system:

Manual

Automatic
The following phases can be carried out in
the two modes:

Recovery/Recycling phase
Coolant is sucked out of the vehicle and
cleaned .

Vacuum phase
A vacuum is created in the vehicle A/C
system .

Oil injection phase
Coolant oil is added to the vehicle A/C
system .

Filling phase
A specified quantity of coolant is added
to the vehicle A/C system .

Manual mode (see section 11)

This is suitable after repair work on the vehi-
cle A/C system .
In this mode, each individual phase must be
selected, the parameters (e . g . filling quanti-
ty) set and the phase started .

Automatic mode (see section 10)

This mode is ideally suited for service on a
vehicle A/C system .
In this mode, all phases are automatically
executed in turn . Only the injection of coo-
lant oil into the vehicle A/C system still has
to be carried out manually . After the vacuum
phase, the process stops with a signal tone
so that the desired quantity of coolant can
be fed in .
The following two entry options are available:

Input of a 2-digit code number:
The ACS 400/450 has a database, in which
all known vehicle types and their A/C sys-
tems are stored encrypted under a 2-digit
code number . This code number repre-
sents the vacuum time and the quantity of
coolant that is to be added to the vehicle
A/C system . Only oil injection still has to be
manually activated or deactivated . These
code numbers are listed in the data manual
for the ACS 400/450 .

Programming of the individual phases:
This entry option is appropriate if the vehi-
cle or the A/C system is not included in the
data manual for the ACS 400/450 . Setting
parameters required for the A/C service (va-
cuum time, filling quantity and oil type) are
specified in the vehicle documentation or in
the vehicle-specific repair manual .
