Three 3-pole plug sockets are located on the back surface of the 19"-
module rack for connecting the bus cable.
Two PROFIBUS segments, PAI_IN and/or PAII_IN, can be connected.
An additional 19"-module rack can be connected to the same segment
with PAI_OUT.
Only the PAII_IN connection has an internal bus terminator; the segment
at PAI must be provided with an external bus terminator if required, which
is to be plugged into the PAI_OUT plug socket.
The allocation of the individual channels to the segments is carried out by
means of coding bridges located under the transparent cover of the PA
modules (see figure 2-1, page 50).
The coding bridges are to be plugged into different sockets in pairs for
each channel:

In the above example, channels CH1 through CH3 are assigned to
Segment PAII, while CH4 and CH5 are assigned to Segment PAI.
Note
The maximum number of channels/slaves per PROFIBUS segment is
dependent upon the quantity of data (input and output) and the capacity
of the segment (see figure 3-7, page 62)
