ADJUSTMENTS
Note
When
the tracking and the sound groove sensor
sensitivity
are adjusted,
take
care
not to allow
TPO2 (pin 23) and ground
(pin 24) to come into
contact since fuse resistor R89 and R91 will blow.
1. Quartz lock phase adjustment
This adjustment is performed when the D.D motor,
PLL P.W.B.,
1C100, 1C101
and the peripheral parts
have
been
replaced
or when
the quartz
lock has
shifted and the speed selector button is winking.
(1)}Connect a DC voltmeter as shown in Fig. 12.
(2)Place
the cabinet
on a horizontal
surface
and
make the platter rotate at a speed of 33-1/3 rpm.
(3)When the ambient temperature is between
5° C
and 20° C adjust the DC voltmeter readout to 1.4
V +0.1 V and when it is between 20° C and 35°
C, agjust 101.3 V0.4
Vousing: R150:
(4) Change the platter speed over to 45 rom and per-
form the same adjustment.
2.Tracking adjustment
Proceed in the following order:
(1)Tonearm angle (right angle) check
This check
is undertaken
when
the tonearm
is
replaced. The tonearm is placed in the ''up"' posi-
tion and a set square is used to check that the
angle between the tonearm and rail is a right angle
(90 degrees).
If it is not, loosen
the hexagon
socket head
adjust screw
and shift the cueing
point to the left or right to adjust.
(2) Tracking sensor position check
This check is undertaken when the tonearm, D16
and Q0O7 are replaced. The tonearm
is set to the
"up'' position, and
RO8 is set to its mechanical
center as in
Fig. 14. Next, the @ side of a DC
voltmeter is connected to TPO1 (pin 22) and the ©
side to ground (pin 24). Bring the end of the tone-
arm
toward
the
outside
edge
of the
platter.
Measure the minimum voltage Ec (V) at this time.
Rotate the sensor position adjust screw (Fig. 15)
and set so that the voltage produced when
the
tonearm
is returned
at
right
angles
again
is
eqivalent to Ec +0.5 *83 V.
(3) Angle sensitivity check
After checking the above (2) tracking sensor posi-
tion, bring the end of the tonearm toward the in-
side edge of the platter. Now check that the DC
voltmeter readout is at least 8.5 V.
(4) Tracking adjustment
After checking the above (3) angle sensitivity, play
the 1 mm
pitch grooves (not the thick part of the
disk) on side 2 of the Hitachi test record (HT-5E) at
33-1/3 rom and measure the average value E: (V)
(Note)
when conducting the adjustments in (2), (3) and (4).
(1)Set the sensitivity selector switch to "M."'
(2)Secure the platter with tape, etc.
(3)As in Fig. 16, place side 1 of the Hitachi test
record (HT-5E) on the platter.
(4)Depress the arm in button (<4), move the tonearm
to the inside and allow the stylus to approach the
groove-less
part of the record's
return
groove.
Now set the tonearm to the ''up"' position.
(5)Cover the cabinet top so that no external light is
admitted.
(6)Conneéct the DC voltmeter as shown
in Fig. 14,
and adjust R64 so that the output at the groove-
less part is made 40mV.
4. Stylus descent position adjustment
(1)Use a 30 cm record, conduct an auto-in operation
for track 1 using the digital track selection func-
tion
and
check
the
position
where
the stylus
descends onto the record.
(2)After having loosened the lock nut shown in Fig.
17, rotate the stylus descent adjust screw using a
wrench
and adjust the position properly.
When
the stylus descends
on the inside of the proper
position, rotate the screw in the counterclockwise
direction; when it descends on the outside, rotate
itin the clockwise direction. One turn of the adjust
screw Is equivalent to a movement
of about 0.5
mm. Tighten up the lock nut after having perform-
ed the adjustment.
